The Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 eSports Team has secured 3rd place in the 2018 F1 eSports Series Constructors’ Championship, after taking a win and more points finishes at the Gfinity Arena in London this weekend.
The final round kicked-off with the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim, where Salih Saltunç capitalised on a pole position start, taking his first win of the series. Technical problems and an issue with the front wing saw Sonuç Saltunç finish the race in 18th.
The team bounced back from a challenging outing in Singapore, where Salih finished 13th with Sonuç in 17th place. Allert van der Wal then took over the cockpit from Sonuç for the US Grand Prix, which he finished in 15th. Following an intense battle with Sven Zürner, of the Renault Sport Team Vitality, at the Circuit of the Americas, Salih achieved another top-five finish, crossing the finishing line in 4th.
In the final race at Abu Dhabi – with double points on offer – both drivers capitalised with Allert converting a top-ten start position into a 6th place, while Salih fought back after being caught up in an incident at the start, finishing the Grand Prix in 8th.
After having a tough start to the season, with technical issues posing a challenge to the team, they harnessed the potential of their drivers with the help of Veloce Esports and took a well-deserved place within the top-three teams in the Championship.

Salih Saltunç, Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 eSports Team Driver:
“It was great to take my first win of the series and score some good points for the team. The battle at the US Grand Prix was good, especially when we went three-wide. The final race was tough at the start, but I did not give up and bounced back to the top-ten. Congratulations to the whole team and a big thank you to the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 eSports Team for all of their support.”
Sonuç Saltunç, Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 eSports Team Driver:
“Congratulations to the whole team on finishing in 3rd in the Constructors’ Championship. The final two races were tough but we managed to bounce back at the right moment. I would like to thank the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 eSports Team for all of their support this season.”
Allert van der Wal, Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 eSports Team Driver:
“We achieved our goal and finished the Championship in the top-three – the hard work put in by our team paid off this season and that is what counts. The races were quite challenging for me, as I had front wing damage in both. It’s a shame because I could have been fighting for the win. Thank you to the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 eSports Team for this opportunity and their support.”
