Top Story: Jason got moved to rehab yesterday afternoon.

He is very anxious and a little confused. Got his first shower this morning which made him VERY happy and as of today, he looks exactly like he did before the accident. Can't coax him to eat - not chocolate, not Applebee's, not prime rib. But we are told that it's a typical result of head injury and trauma. 'Ensure'0 and 'Boost' are on my shopping list every day. Visitors are welcome - his brain needs lots of activity and memory practice. No doubt in my mind that he will make a CO mehr >>

Jason Workman: Unbelievable !!!

The Trach was down-sized and capped today - Jason is talking and making jokes, asking 100 questions and eating real food. He is amazing !!! Jason Workman: 'We graduated !!!

One day later than I thought - but it happened earlier than the medical team expected. Jason was moved from ICU Trauma to 'Step Down' today. No more ventilator - only a little oxygen. The Trach will be capped soon and removed as soon as they are sure he can cough and swallow correctly - and he is doing that already. He is in a private room, totally awake, aware, mehr >>

Jason Workman: Jason was off the ventilator all day and probably will be all night...

The gastric problem is slowly resolving - hopefully by tomorrow they can remove the gastric nose tube. I have a feeling he might move to the 'step down' unit tomorrow or Tuesday. Please keep praying. The hardest part for Jason is just now beginning. Depression has slipped in - but he is being very cooperative and partcipating in his recovery process. Th mehr >>

Jason Workman: Jasons health update

'When we arrived for the 1:00 pm visit today(Glenn, my parents and I), the curtain to Jason's room was 3/4 closed, the bed was moved against the wall and empty. I was stunned. We walked in - there was nurse Cari standing beside a special chair that Jason was sitting in ... Smiling... I was beside myself. He had mehr >>

Jason's status remains same as yesterday. 04.04.2008

Jason Workman: Jason's status remains same as yesterday.

He did motion today, asking if he can still drive and I assured him that he would be all well and whole again. After he kept asking about all the hoses, etc., I offered him a mirror. He very quickly agreed, looked at himself and the Trach for quite some time and seemed to be at ease with the situation. mehr >>

Jason Workman: Another good day ...  Go on Jason!

The ventilator settings were turned down another little bit - Jason tolerated it well. He is awake part of the day and smiling at the nurses occassionally (never at me). He is showing signs of withdrawal and handling them with complete calmness. I am SO proud of him. Looking at his blue mehr >>

Jason is steadily making 'baby steps' toward improvement 27.03.2008

Jason Workman: Jason is steadily making 'baby steps' toward improvement

This morning, he was stable enough for a 30 minute, risk free surgery of inserting the ventilator tube into the bottom of his neck. I think he will be much more comfortable without having the hose in his mouth and down his throat and it will also be easier to wheen him off completely. We are on mehr >>

Jason with baby steps to the chequered flag 20.03.2008

Jason Workman: Jason with baby steps to the chequered flag

Today, Jason took a break from baby steps and stayed at the same level. He wakes occassionally and requires reassurance and explanation for what happened and where he is. I am told that the sedation medication also has the effect of amnesia which causes him not to remember from minute to minute. mehr >>
