AUTOMEDON SHOW from OCTOBER 10-11th 2015


Each year Automedon Show focuses its attention on a specific part of the history of cars and motorcycles. The show sets out ever more abounding unique podiums, staged by Yves Levasseur, the very specialist and inexhaustible enthusiastic executive manager of the show. Vintage cars lovers are not lured as the show attracted 17 000 visitors in 2014.


For this 15th edition, 9 podiums will recount the history of competition through its heritage with a hundred-odd clubs and 250 exhibitors.


Automédon will spread over 20 000 m² indoors and 30 000 m² outdoors – for the vintage car-park - in Hall 4 at the Parc des Expositions at Le Bourget.



The ‘Grand Prix’ cars, heralds of the Formula 1


Competition and car-races went hand in hand with the automakers’ ingenuity in breaking speed records. This enabled them to build their image and notoriety which in turn were to pave the way to new markets and above all new customers.


Automédon will pay a special tribute to the French cars that won renown  in these ‘Grand Prix’: Gladiator (1911), Delahaye 135 (1939), Delage 8 cylinders (1935), Talbot Lago 8 cylinders (1939), Bugatti 35/51 –  it won the French championship and was driven by Maurice Trintignant .



Automédon and the Club Simca France will revive the unknown!


Is Simca still remembered among the public today? Talbot and Chrysler might help reminisce it a bit. Automédon and the Club Simca France have decided to present rare cars, cars designed by coach-builders, and the racing cars with Simca mechanics.


Witness this Simca 5 which won the 24h du Mans in its own category in 1937 and was prepared by Amédée Gordini who gained immortal fame by being immediately nicknamed the ‘wizard’.   On the race podium will be exhibited single-seaters, or racing-circuit barquettes (Barthes, Bouvot-Caron, Beutler, CG, Morère, René Berte ...)


You will also see the Aronde which ran 100 000 km in 1953 on the Montlhéry Circuit, the Ariane  which ran the 200 000 km at Miramas and models of the great coach-builders – Figoni, Facel, Metallon and Henri Chapron and his “Présidence décapotable” used by French President Général de Gaulle at the Elysée!



 The sixtieth anniversary of the Ford Thunderbird: from sports car to de luxe car


 Originally, in 1955, the Ford Thunderbird was meant to be a ‘sports’ car that was to compete with the Chevrolet Corvette; and it soon became a de luxe car.


From 1955 to 1957, it was a double-seater cabriolet.


In 1958, Ford Motor Company’s research department turned this model into a sports-looking four-seater. The Thunderbird was produced until 2005. Automédon will present five of them including a rare 1957 Hard Top cabriolet with a collapsible rooftop.

Automédon Show will display the most exceptional models which epitomize the way cars can be personified thanks to the use of specific materials and avant-gardist design. This year, the exceptional Ford coupé 32, which was awarded the Best of Show prize at Las Vegas in 2013, will be starring among six models on display.
 


The history of the motorcycle from Birmingham to Bologna

Motorama is gaining momentum within Automédon with over 200 historical models.


In the frame of the 6th Motorama, Automédon will stage, along with the Club Triton France and the Performance Ducati Club de France, two vast podiums one of which will be dedicated to English motorcycles (Triumph, Norton, Velocette, Vincent, BSA, Royal Enfield ) and the other one to the Ducati motorcycles, Ducati being a sports brand renowned for its competition machines.


Another podium will be dedicated to the Bol d’Or champions (1927- 2014) with Gerald Motos.

The car-park is part of Automédon’s magic. During the whole of the week-end vintage cars dating back to at least thirty years ago will come and go. It is absolutely impossible to assess the number of brands and models that come one after the other but the sight and variety are definitely there.
