Autos sollen bei jeder Fahrt den Zustand der Straßen erfassen und melden, auf denen sie unterwegs sind. Diese Idee wollen Eyal Levenberg, Assistenzprofessor an der Dänischen Technischen Universität http://dtu.dk und sein Doktorand Asmus Skar in einem Projekt verwirklichen. So könnten eventuell nötige Reparaturen so frühzeitig beginnen, dass sich schwere Schäden vermeiden lassen.

Moderne Fahrzeuge sind mit zahlreichen Sensoren ausgestattet, die während jeder Fahrt eine Vielzahl von Daten erfassen, sagen die Forscher. Diese sollen im Rahmen des Projekts "Live Road Assessment" genutzt werden, für das der staatliche Innovation Fund Denmark umgerechnet 1,2 Mio. Euro zur Verfügung gestellt hat.
Das ABS kann beispielsweise genutzt werden, um Unterschiede beim Straßenbelag zu dokumentieren. Neigungssensoren, die Unfälle registrieren, etwa Überschläge, könnten Bodenunebenheiten erfassen.
Die Forscher haben im Grunde zwei Aufgaben. Sie müssen die Daten, die ein Fahrzeug erfasst, für ihre Zwecke zugänglich machen. Sodann benötigen sie ein Programm, das die Daten auswertet, sodass sie zur Beurteilung des Straßenzustands herangezogen werden können.
Im Übrigen müssen sie mit den GPS-Daten kombiniert werden, um die Position von eventuellen Straßenschäden zu dokumentieren. Das Programm soll selbstlernend sein, also mit der Zeit bestimmte Datenkombinationen immer besser mit den jeweiligen Schäden in Zusammenhang bringen.

Auch Lärmbelästigung dokumentierbar
Das Programm muss außerdem die Wetterbedingungen berücksichtigen, die einen großen Einfluss auf die Daten haben. Da jeder Mensch einen eigenen Fahrstil hat, muss auch das in die Auswertung einfließen. Vor allem im Winter könnte ein solches System wertvolle Daten liefern, weil herkömmliche Messtechniken dann versagen, meinen die dänischen Forscher.
Es müsste allerdings sichergestellt werden, dass die Daten keinen individuellen Autos zugeordnet werden können. Wenn das nicht gelingt, würde Dänemark zum totalen Überwachungsstaat.
"Unser Ziel ist es, die dänischen Straßen in einem besseren Zustand zu halten", sagt Matteo Pettinari von der dänischen Straßenbehörde. Die Daten könnten auch Aufschluss über die Lärmbelastung für die Anwohner geben, ebenso die örtliche Belastung mit Kohlendioxid.
