Entre la Formule 1 et Francorchamps, c’est une longue histoire d’amour parfois tourmentée. Le Grand Prix eut lieu presque toutes les années entre 1950 et 1970

. Il revint à Spa en 1983 après que la longueur de la piste fut ramenée de 14 à 7 km. Mises à part quelques infidélités, notamment en 2003 et en 2006, le grand prix s’y déroula chaque année avec son lot de surprises de suspens et d’émotions.

"L'approche du Raidillon s'effectue en descente. Il y a une transition brutale et puis on monte soudainement.

"Spa préserve les caractéristiques des nouveaux et anciens styles de circuits, et est très différent des tracés modernes. Même si les monoplaces d'aujourd'hui ont rendu le circuit plus facile, il reste un défi. Piloter sur la trajectoire parfaite ici, spécialement dans certains endroits, provoque des frissons.
