BMA entered five cars in the recent Renties Ypres Rally Belgium. The five cars, which are part of the Rally2 category, have all crossed the finish line of the Belgian round of the World Championship.



8th of the overall classification, 1st Belgian private driver, Pieter-Jan Michiel Cracco impressed all observers while performing an excellent operation in the national championship.



Grégoire Munster, in an i20 backed by Hyundai Belux, clocked the fastest time seven times in WRC3 and was the fastest in the Pirelli Powerstage, good for 5 championship bonus points.



For decades, the Ypres Rally has been considered one of the most difficult events in Belgium, if not in Europe, due to the selectivity of its tracks. Narrow and bumpy roads, often bordered by deep ditches, make up the bulk of the route. The speeds there are often breathtaking and the margin for error is practically non-existent. Any deviation from the track and it's practically a guaranteed exit of the road.



This year the race was even trickier than ever due to the inclusion of Renties Ypres Rally Belgium in the WRC calendar. In this particularly tough context, the BMA team entered five cars. At the end of the three days of rallying, all the cars crossed the finish line of the 20th and final special stage without any problem
 


Pieter-Jan Michiel Cracco - Jasper Vermeulen (Skoda Fabia Evo) finished the event in an exceptional 8th place overall, 2nd in WRC3. PJM is also the best-ranked Belgian driver of this round of the BRC Championship. Undoubtedly, the driver who most impressed Belgian and international observers with his stage times, his consistency, and the fact that he did not make the slightest mistake.




"As I was hoping to finish in the top 15, this result fills me with joy", explained the Flandrian businessman at the finish. "We had prepared very well for the race by viewing the onboard cameras of the course. We were also helped by efficient and reliable mechanics from start to finish. The 25 points scored in Ypres also allow us to move to 2nd place in the provisional classification of the Belgian championship."
 


Grégoire Munster - Louis Louka (Hyundai i20) finished 15th. This does not reflect the performance of the crew supported by Hyundai Belux. With 7 best times in WRC3  and even 3 scratches in WRC2 (the category reserved for factory drivers), the crew is also the best performer of the rally.



Grégoire also set the fastest time (and the 8th fastest time in the overall classification) in the Pirelli Powerstage which was set up for the 1st time. Without a small mistake on Friday, Grégoire and Louis would certainly have played a prominent role among the Belgian drivers who are playing for the title.
 


Kevin Hommes - Marco Hommes (Skoda Fabia) achieved their goal: for their first participation in a World Championship Rally and their first experience in the cockpit of a Skoda Fabia R5 number they finished in 30th overall position. A task well done since the brothers Hommes, used to competing in the events of the Eastern Part of Belgium where they come from, also discovered the course of Ypres.
 


Kurt Dujardyn - Jeannick Breyne (Skoda Fabia). The two friends wanted to compete in the event as a tribute to Philippe Cracco, the father of Pieter-Jan Michiel, who deceased too soon. The most eclectic driver in Belgium, able to compete with equal happiness in endurance circuit events, the Dakar in a quad, car, or truck and to participate in rallies on gravel or asphalt, finished in 40th position after experience a limpid race, without the slightest worry.
 


Bart D’Hulster - Martin Kinget (Hyundai i20) was tasked with driving the opening 0 car on the special stages in the Westhoek and then in the Spa-Francorchamps region. It was the 20th time that he accomplished this important task a few minutes before the passage of the first competitors. The owner of SKT benefited from a very original decoration signed Vanuf. Without a doubt, the most beautiful of the 109 cars entered in this edition.
