Erneut Rekordjahr für Toyota in Europa

1,24 Millionen Fahrzeuge verkauft
Toyota hat 2007 in Europa zum elften Mal in Folge mehr Fahrzeuge verkauft als im Vorjahr. Der Absatz stieg um 10 Prozent auf 1.238.638 Fahrzeuge*. Davon entfielen 1.184.828 Fahrzeuge auf Toyota (+10 Prozent) und 53.810 auf Lexus (+7 Prozent). Der gemeinsame Marktanteil von Toyota und Lexus lag bei 5,6 Prozent.
Im Jahr 2008 will Toyota die Verkäufe europaweit um weitere fünf Prozent steigern. Dazu Tadashi Arashima, Präsident und CEO von Toyota Motor Europe (TME): "Umweltfreundliche Technologien werden im Hinblick auf weitere CO2-Reduktionen eine noch größere Rolle spielen. Unser Ziel ist es, die Zahl der verkauften Hybridfahrzeuge um 20 Prozent zu erhöhen. An erster Stelle steht für uns jedoch die Kundenzufriedenheit, die wir durch Produkte höchster Qualität sicherstellen werden."
Bereits in 2007 verzeichnete Toyota eine besonders starke Nachfrage nach Hybridmodellen. Der Prius verkaufte sich 32.171 Mal, ein Plus von 41 Prozent. Bei Lexus wurden 16.787 Hybridfahrzeuge verkauft, hier liegt der Hybridanteil bereits bei 31 Prozent.
Insgesamt rollen auf Europas Straßen nun bereits über 100.000 Hybridfahrzeuge von Toyota und Lexus. Die volumenstärksten Modelle in Europa waren der Yaris mit 266.461 verkauften Fahrzeugen (+6 Prozent) und der im Jahr 2007 neu vorgestellte Auris, von dem in den zehn Monaten seit Verkaufsstart 155.343 Fahrzeuge verkauft wurden.
Erfolgreichster Markt in Europa war Russland mit 157.895 Einheiten, was einem Zuwachs von 55 Prozent entspricht. Dahinter lagen Italien und Großbritannien. In Deutschland verzeichnete Toyota 132.541 KBA-Zulassungen. Der Marktanteil entsprach mit 4,2 Prozent dem Vorjahresniveau. Damit war Toyota im abgelaufenen Jahr erstmals in der Geschichte die größte Importmarke in Deutschland.
Rund zwei Drittel der in Europa verkauften Fahrzeuge wurde auch in Europa produziert. Im Jahr 2007 waren dies insgesamt 806.890 Fahrzeuge, 868.948 Motoren** und 583.493 Getriebe**, die in Frankreich, Großbritannien, Polen, der Türkei und der Tschechischen Republik hergestellt wurden. Im Dezember 2007 wurde zudem eine weitere Produktionsstätte im russischen St. Petersburg eröffnet, wo der Toyota Camry für den russischen Markt vom Band läuft.
*Die Toyota Verkaufszahlen für 2007 umfassen den Absatz von Pkw und Nutzfahrzeugen in den 27 Staaten der EU sowie: Albanien, Andorra, Aserbeidschan, Weißrussland, Bosnien und Herzegowina, Kroatien, Färöer Inseln, Georgien, Gibraltar, Grönland, Island, Kasachstan, Liechtenstein, Mazedonien, Monaco, Norwegen, Russland, Serbien und Montenegro, Schweiz, Tadschikistan, Türkei, Turkmenistan, Ukraine und Usbekistan.
**In den Produktionszahlen für Motoren und Getriebe sind die Einheiten für den Citroen C1 und den Peugeot 107 enthalten.
