With a completely new generation of engines and transmissions, the Opel Astra sets standards for low emissions. The Astra’s ultra-modern three-cylinder petrol and diesel engines ensure lively driving performance and top driving comfort with optimum noise attenuation. A counter-rotating balance shaft in the engine block offsets vibrations.




The compact, three-cylinder, turbo petrol units are available with 1.2 and 1.4-litre displacements. With power outputs extending from 81kW (110hp) to 107kW (145hp) and maximum torque from 195 to 236 Newton metres, they achieve an excellent balance between performance and efficiency (NEDC4 fuel consumption: urban 6.4-5.2 l/100 km, extra-urban 4.2-3.8 l/100 km, combined 5.0-4.3 l/100 km, 116-99 g/km CO2; WLTP5 combined: 6.2-5.2, 142-119 g/km CO2; preliminary figures).



The base power units have a six-speed manual gearbox as standard. A new stepless automatic transmission and a smooth-shifting nine-speed automatic also contribute to lower consumption and high comfort.



The Astra also leads the way in terms of aerodynamics. With a drag coefficient of 0.26 for the Astra hatchback as well as the Sports Tourer estate, the new compact Opel is the most efficient Astra ever and one of the most aerodynamic cars in its class. In total, the aerodynamic optimisation of the new Astra saves 4.5g of CO2 per kilometre in the WLTP cycle.



The new Astra is equally exemplary in terms of comfort, assistance and infotainment systems. The new front camera is smaller, but more powerful than before thanks to a faster processor. The digital rear view camera available in conjunction with the new Multimedia Navi Pro infotainment system is also more powerful. The view of the traffic behind the vehicle on the monitor is more distinct and precise; the contrasts are more visible in the dark.



Intelligent, glare-free IntelliLux LED® matrix light is also on board. Compatible smartphones in the compact class model can now also be charged inductively via wireless charging. The new Astra turns into a concert hall with the optional Bose high-end sound system.



 And driving in the cold season is more pleasant and safer with the heated windscreen, another comfort feature available in the Astra for the first time.
