In these unprecedented times, I personally wanted to let you know that Walking With The Wounded is taking our responsibilities to respond to Coronavirus – COVID19 - very seriously.



The well-being of our clients, our staff and our volunteers is paramount. WWTW has always been a pioneering organisation, demonstrating our ability to be flexible and think laterally, and to be able to deliver effective care to our beneficiaries.  
 


We continue to carry out our objectives and all staff are well set up for flexible and remote working to ensure that the day-to-day delivery of the charity, supporting those who served and their families, does not change. 



Whilst we have naturally had to adapt our services in line with Government advice, putting ‘Client First’ remains at the heart of our key values and the complex needs of our beneficiaries remains our priority.  During these uncertain times, we will continue to work closely with our Principal Partner, the NHS, and will ensure we continue to provide the resource necessary to ensure veterans in need of care are supported.



The recent Government advice to socially isolate will no doubt have an impact on all of us. At times like this, it’s important to take time out of our current stresses to remind ourselves of the stress and anxiety of unemployment, depression, physical and mental injury, homelessness and suicidal thoughts that some of our beneficiaries deal with on a daily basis and this will only be compounded  during this period of uncertainty.   In recent weeks, never more has our work for those who served been so necessary.
 


With such uncertainty sadly comes an immediate revenue threat to the charity and carrying out the necessary work we do on a daily basis.  Because of the extreme seriousness of the COVID-19 pandemic, a number of our events have been postponed including our biggest fundraising event of the year, the Cumbrian Challenge. 



However, the ex-servicemen and women we support still need our support and their challenges cannot simply be delayed.  We hope that by postponing the event it will provide an opportunity for more people to take part, raising more funds for those who served and their families
