The coronavirus crisis also puts the automotive industry in check; 21.6% of texts analysed on the internet in March referred to the impact of COVID-19.

In March the German premium brand won over Ford and BMW whilst the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA is the model most appreciated by internet users.

In March, the German firm Porsche was the most highly valued brand by Spanish Internet users according to the GEOM Index, the reference index for the Spanish automobile market, which takes into account both the opinion of users on the Internet and the notoriety achieved by manufacturers.

However, the absolute protagonism of March was for the biggest crisis of this century, the covid-19, which has put the world economy in check.

The motor industry has been no exception, to the extent that 21.6 percent of the texts analyzed by the Spanish consulting firm on the sector referred to issues related to the impact of the virus.

Porsche was the brand that best resisted this unprecedented crisis. Thus, the premium brand became the most highly valued by Internet users in March with a rating of 81.67 points.

After Porsche, it came in second place in the GEOM Index Ford (79.38 points and best overall brand) and three other brands competed for a place on the March honour roll. Finally it was BMW that came third in the ranking with 76.73 points, followed by Volkswagen (76.38) and Renault (71.12).

On the model side, it was a month dominated by the manufacturers' sportier models or versions. The undisputed leader was the Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA (82.91 points in the GEOM index), followed by the Porsche 911 Turbo S (81.85) and the exclusive Volkswagen Arteon (81.35).

WHAT IS GEOM INDEX?

GEOM Index is the leading online market intelligence company specializing in the automotive sector. In 2012, the consultancy firm began to offer market studies to car manufacturers, providing focus groups on all industry models as well as specific reports on new launches. GEOM Index has developed its own technology, based on artificial intelligence and deep learning algorithms, with which it processes thousands of opinions from Internet users every day.

The company analyses the sentiment about brands and models in all online media where conversations about manufacturers and their products appear: websites, blogs, Youtube channels, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, influencers profiles, etc. The consultancy firm is also a pioneer in the development of the first online valuation index of brands and models, an indisputable reference in the sector.
