Over the course of 21 days, a team of ex-military personnel will attempt to walk 400km across Oman in searing temperatures.
In partnership with the Omani Armed Forces and with generous support from the Royal Office of HM Sultan Haitham bin Tariq’, the ambitious trek pays homage to the legendary travels Wilfred Thesiger took across the Arabian Peninsula in the 1940s.
Starting on November 20th 2020 and ending December 11th 2020, the walk will take the team across part of the Empty Quarter- the world’s largest sand desert, before bringing the arduous trek to a close on Oman’s Armed Forces Day.
This has been an exciting month for WWTW. On Armed Forces Day, WWTW's Expedition Patron, The Duke of Sussex announced the launch of our latest expedition - the Walk of Oman. Over the past 10 years, we have led teams of ex-servicemen and women to the North and South Poles, walked the length of Britain and crossed the USA. As we celebrate our 10th Year Anniversary, The Walk of Oman creates a new challenge and sense of adventure.
This month, we hosted our first webinar exploring 'A Life of Service', the impact of the Armed Forces during the coronavirus pandemic and the contribution of those who serve.
Morrisons brought back their popular 'Veterans Pie', we also celebrated Armed Forces Week by sharing stories from across our supporters, staff and volunteers.
We shared a story about a family who have been supported through our NCCP programme in the North West, and we announced that we've been shortlisted for the prestigious Mental Health and Wellbeing Award!
