Enthusiasts with amazing cars offering ‘Dream Rides’ to raise money for UK children’s charities

Thousands of advance show tickets already sold

More action, more content – and even more cars!

Show takes place August 19-22, 2021

Tickets cost just £18.50, or £37 for a family

Ever fancied a ride in the car that you always dreamed of? Well, in August this year, thanks to The British Motor Show and the Sporting Bears Motor Club you can.

The Sporting Bears are a group of classic and supercar owners with big hearts, who give up their time to give unforgettable experiences to others in order to support charities for British children.

Since the club was founded in 1989 it has raised £2.5 million and now raises over £200,000 each year, all for UK children’s charities. At the British Motor Show, which runs between August 19 and 22, the Sporting Bears will be running their ‘Dream Rides’, which allow show visitors to take a passenger ride in the car of their choice, from supercars to Group B rally cars. Each day, the Dream Rides cars will be displayed on a ‘Cool Wall’, from which visitors can choose their favourite and be taken for a 10-mile/20-minute experience they’ll never forget.

Michael De Sousa Macedo, PR & Social Media head for Sporting Bears, said: “There are lots of motor clubs in the UK and some that raise money for charities at the odd event each year, but there are none like Sporting Bears. Our main goal is to raise money for UK children’s charities.

We have been doing this for 30 years at over 50 events each year all over the UK. With over 1,200 members we are committed to our goals and we are very proud that as the club is run on its membership fee, the entire 100% of the money we raise goes to the charities we support.”

The British Motor Show is already jammed-packed with exciting content, but the addition of the Sporting Bears Dream Rides to the roster of interactive activities further adds to the action-packed agenda, giving petrolheads the chance to experience the cars they may never have imagined they could.

Andy Entwistle, Show CEO, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Sporting Bears to the show and are incredibly proud of our association with them and the work that they do. The Dream Rides feature also adds yet another interactive experience to the most diverse and exciting motor show ever to be held in the UK.”

As well as a tantalising display of new cars, when the show opens its doors in August it will feature the Select Electric Motor Show, an action packed Live Arena, a Live Stage, motoring celebrities, a robot making competition, Retro-Electric Live, a Supercar Paddock, classic cars, the IMI Technology Theatre, test drives, a kidz zone and a dedicated marketplace area full of petrolhead gift ideas.

Three further exciting driving experiences have been confirmed, including The Caterham Experience, The Paul Swift Stunt Driving Experience and Under 17 Driving Lessons

The Caterham Experience, sponsored by Avon Tyres will offer consumers the chance to take a passenger ride in a Caterham, the Drift Taxi Experience will offer visitors the chance to experience the awesome handling and power of the latest Caterhams while being driven around a slalom course in one of our 3 out door arenas. Caterham will also be bringing along driving simulators, creating a showroom and offering test drives in their latest cars

The Paul Swift Stunt Driving Experience will let visitors experience all the tricks seen in the movies as an actual passenger. This adrenaline filled experience is from the team that will be delivering our amazing stunt shows in the Cazoo Live Arena.

Paul and his team of professional stunt drivers will strap visitors in for passenger rides that they will never forget, while they perform stunts such as parallel parking, J turns and drifting, including an unforgettable lap of the slalom course. There are only a limited number of experiences available and are sure to sell out quickly.

The third driving experience to be announced, in partnership with The Big Learner Relay, are our Under 17 Driving lessons. Visitors will be able to get their youngsters behind the wheel for a 20 minute driving experiences in a manual car fitted with dual controls and with a fully qualified driving instructor. Children will practice steering, reversing parking and even a bit of slalom.

The Show will also feature the Automotive Careers Expo, which will run throughout the event and support the autotmotive sector and its employees as the Covid-19 Pandemic comes to an end.

Andy Entwistle added:
“It’s great to welcome Sporting Bears into The British Motor Show, which is not only a massively worthy cause but also adds yet even more exciting content to what will be an amazing day out, and all for just £18.50 per head, or £37 for a family ticket.”

Michael De Sousa Macedo added:
“Due to Covid-19, like a lot of charities, Sporting Bears have not been able to carry out their Dream Rides to help raise money for children’s charities. This means that the UK children's charities we support have suffered greatly without the much needed funds we raise for them. We understand times are tough but they would appreciate any support you can give however small, to help support UK children less fortunate than our own.”
