The Ford EcoSport has been the unrivalled segment leader in the compact sport utility vehicle (C-SUV) segment since launch, and Ford has given it an additional dose of style and personality with the introduction of the limited-edition EcoSport Black.



Based on the popular, value-oriented EcoSport Ambiente 1.5 Auto, the EcoSport Black – as its name suggests – receives several dark-hued feature enhancements that give it a more distinctive and dynamic appearance.

“With the EcoSport Black, we have given the EcoSport a sportier and exclusive character that will appeal to customers seeking a stylish vehicle that has a bold and unique personality.”



Although the EcoSport is a familiar face on South African roads, the EcoSport Black stands out from the compact SUV crowd thanks to the front grille and skid plate being finished in black. The theme continues on the bonnet too with a bold black decal insert on the upper section of the hood that matches the painted black roof. Integrated black roof rails add both sporting flair and practicality to the package.



The side view is dominated by stylish 16-inch black alloy wheels that replace the 15-inch steel rims with wheel trims on the standard EcoSport Ambiente. This is complemented by black side decals and mirror caps, while the rear of the vehicle features a black spare wheel cover as standard.



The EcoSport Black is available in a selection of eye-catching colours that amplify the exclusive black detailing, comprising Diamond White, Moondust Silver, Smoke, Blue Lightning and Canyon Ridge.



The EcoSport Black is powered by Ford’s sprightly 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 91kW of power matched to 151Nm of torque. It is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox that is equally at home in bustling city traffic as it is on the open road.



Based on the EcoSport Ambiente, the new EcoSport Black has an impressive level of standard comfort, convenience and safety features. Electrically operated windows are fitted all round, along with manual air-conditioning and Ford’s electric power-assisted steering (EPAS).



SYNC® with Bluetooth and Voice Control integrates the multimedia entertainment and phone functions, and incorporates two USB ports, six speakers and a 4.2-inch screen. Remote control locking, an integrated perimeter alarm and engine immobiliser take care of vehicle security, while standard rear parking sensors make maneuvering the car into tight spaces a cinch.



On the safety front, the EcoSport Black is equipped with six airbags (dual front, side and curtain airbags) and dual ISOFIX child-seat mounting points in the rear seats – a crucial consideration for young families. Active safety features include ABS brakes, Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with traction control.



All EcoSport models come standard with Ford Protect, comprising a four-year/120 000km comprehensive warranty, three-year/unlimited distance roadside assistance and five-year/unlimited km corrosion warranty. A four-year/60 000km service plan is included, with 15 000km service intervals.
