If you’re considering buying an extended
car warranty, you have many companies to choose from. Whether you live in Europe or the US, there are likely auto insurance providers that offer various types of insurance coverage.

Below, we’ve listed some of the best car warranty companies in Europe and the USA. Knowing the leading insurance providers in your region should help you make the right choice.

Extended Auto Warranty Companies in Europe

The top three extended warranty companies in Europe are:

Warranty Direct

WarrantyWise covers vehicles under 12 years old and up to 120,000 miles up to the value of the vehicle. The company offers the added advantage that you can have your car repaired at any VAT registered garage you choose. Parts, labor, and diagnostic fees are covered under the warranty. WarrantyWise also provides protection from day one and covers damage due to failure from normal wear and tear.

Based in the UK, WarrantyWise has been in business since 2019. According to the company’s website, it has sold over 750,000 warranties to customers

Click4Warranty has been in business for 17 years and counting. The company also offers day one coverage and includes wear and tear protection. Vehicles must be under 12 years of age at the start of coverage, but coverage extends to up to 150,000 miles. Claims are tapped out at £7,000, but no pre-inspection is required for joining.

Warranty Direct

Warranty Direct offers comprehensive coverage for as low as £10 per month, which includes parts and labor. The company offers day one coverage and unlimited mileage to start. Your vehicle must be under 10 years of age and under 100,000 miles. Warranty Direct covers damage up to the value of the vehicle.

Other companies that offer extended warranties in Europe are MotorEasy and Protect4Sure. Each of these covers vehicles under 10 or 12 years of age and up to 120,000 miles. Both offer first-day coverage and offer coverage up to the value of the vehicle.

Extended Auto Warranty Companies in the USA

The top three rated extended warranty companies in the USA are:

Protect My Car

CARCHEX has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau, accreditation, and endorsements from some of the biggest names in the industry like Kelly Blue Book (KBB) and CARFAX. Customers like the easy signup and claims process. The company has a representative that can help you with the paperwork, and it offers five levels of car coverage.

While a little more expensive, CARCHEX may be worth the extra expense in terms of service. The company has a broad network and can usually accommodate a customer’s preferred shop or mechanic.

Endurance has a high rating from Trustpilot and their customer reviews onsite.  More than 3,000 reviews recommend Endurance, so its customer service reputation is high.

The company also ranks as one of the most reputable auto insurance providers because you deal directly with the company. Endurance offers six levels of coverage for car owners to choose from.

Protect My Car

Protect My Car is popular among car owners for its ease of use. The company’s extended warranty can last up to 60 months, much longer than normal extended car warranties. Protect My Car also offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on all their plans. The company has a five-star rating with the BBB and offers three levels of coverage. It also offers plans for older cars, though not under an extended warranty.

Aside from these top three extended car warranty companies in the US, insurance providers to consider include autopom!, CarShield, and Olive. autopom! is known for its efficient claims process as well as an exclusionary extended warranty that provides up to 8 years of coverage.

Meanwhile, CarShield claims to have protected over one million vehicles since the company’s founding in 2005. The company is known for offering extended warranties not just for cars but also for motorcycles and ATVs.

Among these auto insurance providers, Olive is unique because it sells warranty products only online. The company offers plans for comprehensive coverage and powertrain coverage. Olive also comes has an A+ rating from the BBB.

Considerations for Getting Extended Car Warranty

No matter where you live, if you’re considering an extended warranty, you should consider the following:

- Cost of the extended warranty per month and total

- Coverage: what is covered, for how long, and under what circumstances

- Vehicle age, make, and model.

- The time you plan to keep the vehicle: If you plan to trade your car in under three years, warranty coverage is likely not for you. If you plan to keep it for longer than five years, it’s worth getting a quote.

- Likely repairs: What do you expect to break down in the next few years? What are the costs without a warranty versus with the coverage?

All these factors should go into your decision of whether to get an extended warranty for your vehicle. If you own an older car or plan to trade yours in soon, an extended warranty may not be worth the money. If you have a luxury car or a car that is no longer under a factory warranty, you may benefit from checking quotes on extended warranties.

The Bottom Line

Always check each warranty carefully to see what it covers and to what extent you’ll be responsible. It’s always a good idea to shop around and make sure you have everything covered under warranty before you close the deal. Most negative reviews of the above companies are from customers who failed to understand the limitations of their warranty coverage.
