Vattenfall InCharge and DAS FUTTERHAUS have agreed on a cooperation to set up 170 high-power charging points at almost 70 locations all over Germany. This is an important step towards enabling easier public charging, as interest in electrical vehicles increases.

Vattenfall has a clear goal to enable fossil-free living within one generation. The cooperation with DAS FUTTERHAUS, one of the leading pet food and accessories retailers in Germany, is an important step towards expanding public charging and making charging easier.

“DAS FUTTERHAUS is a large and important partner, and the collaboration we have demonstrates that it is possible to meet both customer requirements and enable steps towards fossil-free living,” says Tomas Björnsson, Head of E-mobility at Vattenfall and the charging solutions network InCharge.

Vattenfall has increased its emission reduction targets for 2030 and beyond, aiming to reach net zero by 2040. The targets are set to help keep the global warming at a maximum of 1.5 degrees Celsius and have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative, SBTi.

“Vattenfall has identified several ambitions to reach our 2030 commitment. One important step is the ambition to operate 25 times as many electric charging points compared to 2020. The electrification in the transport sector is happening all over Europe and the electrical vehicles that will run on our streets will need charging possibilities. We are pleased to have DAS FUTTERHAUS as a partner with whom we can jointly drive the energy transition forward,” says Tomas Björnsson.

DAS FUTTERHAUS will provide customer parking spaces in front of its stores. Vattenfall InCharge is responsible for the planning, construction and operation of the stations. Initially, 85 charging stations with 170 charging points will be installed at approximately 70 locations during 2022 and 2023. The next step in the plan is to equip all of DAS FUTTERHAUS’ more than 400 stores with charging infrastructure.

“We are pleased to support our customers in switching to more climate-smart electric mobility by offering fossil-free charging power at many DAS FUTTERHAUS stores,” says Lutz Sommer, Head of Environment & Energy at the DAS FUTTERHAUS group of companies. “This way, customers can both shop with us and charge their vehicle at the same time.”

The stations will be part of the growing Vattenfall InCharge network across Northern Europe. InCharge currently has 28,000 charge points connected to the network, and provides access to many times more through roaming partners.
