Global Bidding Now Underway For Extensively Upgraded First-Generation Ford 4X4

A fully restored 1970 Ford Bronco owned and driven by 2009 Formula 1 World Champion Jenson Button debuts today on the Collecting Cars auction platform.

Offered to a global bidding audience through January 20 by the Collecting Cars U.S. operations in Los Angeles, the 1970 Ford Bronco custom truck is based on the first generation of Ford’s rugged 4x4.

Power is generated by a naturally aspirated and fuel injected 302ci (4.9L) small-block Bronco V8, driving all four wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. Upgrades include Fitech fuel injection, an Edelbrock filter, and MSD ignition kit with push-button start. Additional installments include an Optima battery and battery cut-off switch.

Finished in a smart Dark Blue hue, this Bronco features gloss black wheel arch extensions, as well as side protection runners. It has been further customized with the ‘side window delete’ treatment, with red accents around the front grille, towing hooks, and the ‘Ford’ badge.

The custom Bronco features upgraded headlights complemented by classic KC driving lamps, as well as satin black 17-inch Method alloy wheels, wrapped in 35-inch BFGoodrich tires. Its suspension has been raised and is now fitted with Bilstein shock absorbers. Wilwood front disc brakes have also been added.

Interior appointments include new cream leather with the period-correct seats. Over the rear bench is a half roll cage finished in black, as well as a lightweight roof frame and a new Bimini soft top. A Borgeson power steering rack and a new polished steering column have been installed, along with a wood-rimmed steering wheel. Other interior upgrades include a Kenwood stereo and USB cable.

Quick facts:

•    Collecting Cars is a 24/7 online auction platform. Unlike traditional auctions, cars are sold in 7 days in a safe, secure, and hassle-free process to a large audience of committed buyers. There are no selling fees — the seller receives 100 percent of the hammer price and keeps possession of the car until the successful buyer arranges to collect it.

•    To date, the global platform has sold more than 5,400 lots, with total sales value generated for sellers exceeding $269 million.

•    The global auction company has headquarters in London, alongside offices in Munich and Sydney, and now in Los Angeles and Toronto.

•    With registered bidders in more than 90 countries around the world, sellers can have confidence that their car is marketed to a truly global audience.

•    The best-selling brand on Collecting Cars is Porsche, with more than 700 cars sold since launch, including more than 500 examples of the 911 from every generation dating back to the 1960s.

•    More than 90 percent of sales since launch have been completed without a physical viewing, underscoring the significant trust that buyers have in the platform.
