World premieres: Four Opel models on public show for the first time
Battery-electric spearhead: Astra Electric leads Opel line-up in Belgium
GSe reloaded: New Astra Sports Tourer GSe and Grandland GSe on display
Extended range: Mokka Electric now with 406 kilometres (WLTP1) of purely electric driving pleasure
Locally emission-free transporters: Fully electric Combo-e and Vivaro-e commercial vehicles

The 100th edition of the Brussels Motor Show will electrify visitors - just like Opel. The Rüsselsheim-based carmaker’s booth will shine in the characteristic Opel yellow from 14 to 22 January 2023. An appearance full of energy, because all the vehicles with the ‘Blitz’ exhibited at stand 5101 in hall 5 are either fully electric or electrified plug-in hybrids.
Many of them for the first time: the first battery-electric Astra in the decades-long success story of the compact class bestseller will celebrate its world premiere in Brussels with the name speaking for itself: The Opel Astra Electric.
Furthermore, the newcomers of the dynamic GSe sub-brand, the Opel Astra Sports Tourer GSe and the top-of-the-line SUV Opel Grandland GSe, will also make their public debut. But that's not all: the Opel Mokka will start the year as the Mokka Electric with a new battery and 20 percent more range than before.
The electrified passenger car line-up in Brussels is rounded off by the best-selling small car Opel Corsa-e. And last but not least, Opel will be demonstrating its approach to the electrification of commercial vehicles with the Opel Combo-e and the Opel Vivaro-e, the "International Van of the Year 2021".
“We are opening the next chapter of our electrification offensive with the premiere of our new Opel Astra Electric in Brussels,” said Opel CEO Florian Huettl. “Our first all-electric Astra will give further impetus to electric mobility in the important compact class. In addition, our fully electrified line-up shows that we are making great strides towards our goal of becoming an all-electric brand. In addition, more and more customers are using our digital offer for 'Online Sales' - now also in Belgium.”
Opel Astra Electric: The first all-electric Astra
It's "curtain up" in Brussels for the Opel Astra Electric. The battery-electric version of the "Golden Steering Wheel 20222" title holder can be examined up close by the general public for the first time. And it has a lot to offer: The 54 kWh lithium-ion battery stores enough energy to enable the new Astra Electric to cover up to 416 kilometres with zero emissions, according to WLTP3.
Even when the battery-electric Astra needs recharging, this means only a short "pit stop" at the service station. The Astra Electric can be charged to 80 percent of its battery capacity in around 30 minutes at a 100 kW DC fast charging station. In addition, the all-electric Astra is equipped as standard with a three-phase 11 kW onboard charger for fast AC charging at the wall box at home.
The electric motor delivers 115 kW/156 hp and a powerful 270 Newton metres of maximum torque - so quick acceleration is guaranteed. In addition, the new Astra Electric has a top speed of 170 km/h. The five-door model – just like the Astra Sports Tourer Electric estate that will follow later - offers a great deal of driving pleasure and does so responsibly with zero local emissions.
Driving fun par excellence: Astra GSe, Astra Sports Tourer GSe and Grandland GSe
Pure dynamic driving fun is also guaranteed by the abbreviation GSe - which now stands for "Grand Sport Electric" and thus for electrified and electrifying driving pleasure. The top models Opel Astra Sports Tourer GSe and Opel Grandland GSe are presented in Brussels.
The newcomers set the new benchmark for chassis integration and feedback to the driver. In comparison, the GSe models are designed to be even more agile and precise. Steering, suspension and brakes respond immediately and directly to any command from the driver. KONI FSD technology enables different damping characteristics depending on the situation for precise handling and high comfort in equal measure.
With a system output of 165 kW/225 hp and maximum torque of a powerful 360 Newton metres, both the new Astra Sports Tourer GSe and the five-door Astra GSe offer pure excitement (fuel consumption according to WLTP4: 1.2-1.1 l/100 km, CO2 emissions 26-25 g/km; combined in each case, provisional values).
The Grandland GSe is even more ambitious in terms of performance: it combines the power of a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine and two electric motors - one on each axle. This results in a system output of up to 221 kW/300 hp (fuel consumption according to WLTP4: 1.3 l/100 km, CO2 emissions 31-29 g/km; in each case combined, weighted, provisional values).
The plug-in hybrid drive makes the Grandland GSe a powerful and sporty SUV with permanent electric all-wheel drive including excellent traction and ensures best-in-class acceleration figures from a standing start. And in just 6.1 seconds, the Grandland GSe sprints from zero to 100 km/h - and, if you like, even to a top speed of 235 km/h (135 km/h purely electric).

Mokka Electric: Compact SUV bestseller now even better
Elsewhere, the Opel Mokka is continuing to blaze its trail: as the first Opel with the new Opel Vizor brand face, its clear and bold design and the fully digital Pure Panel cockpit, it has become an absolute bestseller in the B-SUV segment. At the same time, more and more customers are choosing the battery-electric version - in Germany recently as many as around 65 percent.
As the new Mokka Electric, the "winner of the 2021 Golden Steering Wheel"5 is now even more versatile - and in future it will be available with a larger battery on request. With the new 54 kWh battery, Mokka Electric drivers will then be able to cover up to 406 kilometres locally emission-free according to WLTP instead of up to 338 kilometres - a bumper 20 percent more than before. The Mokka Electric thus shows how emotion and practicality can be combined in the best possible way.
When it comes to battery-electric driving pleasure at Opel, there is of course one bestseller that cannot be left out: the Opel Corsa-e. It kicked off Opel's electric offensive in 2019 and has become a highly sought-after small car. Agile, practical and locally emission-free, since its launch it has won over not only the trade press but also the public and won the "Golden Steering Wheel"6 in 2020.
Already completely electric: the Opel light commercial vehicle line-up
Opel is also taking advantage of its presence at the Brussels Motor Show to not only show the new and highly successful electrified passenger car models but also showcase the advantages that electric commercial vehicles have to offer.
Already today, the complete trio of light commercial vehicles offered by the tradition-rich brand is electric - from the compact Opel Combo-e to the all-rounder and "International Van of the Year 2021" title holder Vivaro-e to the largest in the range, the Movano-e.
The battery-electric models are the first choice for all commercial operators who, like Opel, want to promote "Greenovation" in their fleets, but do not want to sacrifice performance, loading capacity or application possibilities.
On the contrary: the latter are even increased with Combo-e, Vivaro-e or Movano-e, as the commercial vehicles are locally emission-free and thus in future also suitable for so-called “last mile” deliveries in the inner city. The location of the batteries in the underbody also ensures that the vehicles have a lower centre of gravity and have even better roadholding. And on the other hand, this means that no storage space is lost in the loading compartment.
Customers inspired by Opel’s electrifying line-up in Brussels also have the opportunity to order their favourite from the Opel portfolio directly at the stand. In the "Mobility Corner", the Rüsselsheim-based manufacturer presents its online sales channel. Here, Opel customers can configure their desired model at the touch of a button, examine it digitally and, if they wish, have it delivered to their home – now also in Belgium.
