Die BMW Group und PSA Peugeot Citroën haben eine Vereinbarung über den Aufbau eines Joint Venture mit dem Namen „BMW Peugeot Citroën Electrification“ geschlossen und damit ein neues Kapitel ihrer Zusammenarbeit begonnen. Beide Konzerne werden zu gleichen Teilen an dem neuen Unternehmen beteiligt sein. Das Abkommen wurde am 1. Februar von den Vorstandsvorsitzenden der BMW AG und von PSA Peugeot Citroën, Norbert Reithofer und Philippe Varin, unterzeichnet. Im Oktober 2010 hatten die Konzerne eine gemeinsame Absichtserklärung unterzeichnet mit dem Ziel, ihre bestehende Zusammenarbeit auf Hybridsysteme auszuweiten.


„BMW Peugeot Citroën Electrification“ konzentriert sich auf die Entwicklung und Produktion von Hybridkomponenten einschließlich von Hochvoltspeichern, E-Motoren, Generatoren, Leistungselektronik und Ladegeräten sowie die Entwicklung von Software für Hybridsysteme. Die gemeinsame Forschung, Entwicklung und Produktion sowie der gemeinsame Komponenteneinkauf wird für beide Konzerne bedeutende Kostenvorteile bringen.


Ziel der Initiative der BMW Group und von PSA Peugeot Citroën ist es vor allem, standardisierte Hybridkomponenten für die Elektrifizierung ihrer Fahrzeugflotten zu entwickeln. Durch das Schaffen einer offenen Plattform für diese Technologien soll darüber hinaus ein Beitrag zur Strukturierung der europäischen Industrie auf dem Gebiet der Hybridisierung geleistet werden. Dazu wird das Joint Venture auch Entwicklungsaufträge an Lieferanten vergeben und könnte anderen Unternehmen als den beiden Anteilseignern Hybridkomponenten zum Kauf anbieten.


Vorbehaltlich der Zustimmung der zuständigen Kartellbehörden wird erwartet, dass das Joint Venture im zweiten Quartal 2011 seine Arbeit aufnimmt. Fahrzeuge beider Partnerunternehmen werden ab 2014 mit den neuen Hybridkomponenten ausgestattet werden.


Die Geschäftsführung sowie das weitere Personal des Joint Ventures werden sich aus Mitarbeitern beider Konzerne zusammensetzen. Zusätzliches Personal wird von extern eingestellt. Die wichtigsten Managementfunktionen werden zu gleichen Teilen von Mitarbeitern beider Konzerne wahrgenommen. Wolfgang Güllich, derzeit verantwortlich für die Einkaufsstrategie der BMW Group, wird Vorsitzender der Geschäftsführung von BMW Peugeot Citroën Electrification, und Jean Leflour, derzeit Leiter Kundenzufriedenheit und Qualitätsplanung bei PSA Peugeot Citroën, wird zum Geschäftsführer ernannt.


„Dieses Gemeinschaftsprojekt ermöglicht uns umfassende Kostenvorteile im Bereich der Elektrifizierung und stellt einen wichtigen Schritt in Richtung auf eine nachhaltige Mobilität dar”, sagte Norbert Reithofer. „Wir sind sicher, dass wir durch dieses Joint Venture unser Know-how weiterentwickeln und ausbauen werden und einen europäischen Marktführer auf dem Gebiet der Hybrid-Innovationen erschaffen werden“, so Philippe Varin.


Die BMW Gruppe und PSA Peugeot Citroën arbeiten bereits seit vielen Jahren erfolgreich auf dem Gebiet der Motorenfertigung zusammen und haben von 2006 bis 2010 mehr als 1,8 Millionen Motoren hergestellt. Im Februar 2010 sind beide Konzerne übereingekommen, die nächste Generation des gemeinsam entworfenen 4-Zylinder Ottomotors zu entwickeln, der u.a. die Anforderungen der EU 6-Norm erfüllen wird. Der derzeit gemeinsam hergestellte Motor ist in einer Reihe von Modellen der Marken MINI, Peugeot und Citroën verbaut.
