The stage is set for a highly competitive all-night kart racing spectacle when Round Two of the Dubai Kartdrome Endurance Championship driven by MINI gets under way on Friday, with teams battling for honours over 600 laps on the challenging Switchback circuit configuration.


The newly implemented kart rotation system was well received when introduced for the first round last month and will be utilized again, ensuring parity of competition and close racing.


Dubai Kartdrome Assistant Manager David Bright said: “The new system has evened out the field, as now teams have to change karts every time they enter the pit lane for a driver change while managing their own strategy. This makes the racing much more interesting.”


“I would like to wish all the teams participating this weekend the best of luck and to say a huge thank you to AGMC Mini for their continued support of the championship.”


The three veteran kart teams from Choueiri Group are always in the mix to win trophies, and CG Racing Pro will be looking to add to their first round win.


CG Teams’ Manager Habib Chouery said: “For Round Two we will aim to build on our winning performances from the season starter in the Pro and Corporate categories.


We also have high hopes for CG Academy rising up the ranks after their third position in the Corporate category in the first round.”


Competition will be fierce as four-times Endurance Champions Batelco-Drag 965 Racing will be seeking revenge after narrowly losing out to CG Racing Pro last time out. 


Dubai Falcon Racing Team will also be in the hunt as they look to defend their 2015 Endurance Championship title, while other notable teams such as LD, Mach 1, ENOC-NH8 and Team Emirates will all be looking to make the most of their Dubai Kartdrome experience.


In the Corporate category, Fly Emirates and CG Racing will be the two teams to watch. Both are seasoned regulars, making it difficult for up-and-comers such as IUM Racing to make an impact.


The Nations Cup is a sub-category for teams with drivers of all one nationality.  The all-Emirati team, MINI Dubai, the defending champions, will be looking to bounce back after losing out to the Russian team LD in Round One.



The drivers’ weigh-in starts at 14.30 on Friday, with track action getting under way with an hour of free practice which starts at 17:00, followed by qualifying at 18:05. 


The race will be flagged off at 19:00 and run until approximately 07:00 on Saturday morning.


Spectators will also be able to visit the YALLA MINI event, which runs from 16:00 until midnight on Friday.


Activities will include surfboard painting by the famous graffiti artist Dina Saadi, a coffee tasting workshop by Sabado Coffee Club, the MINI Cabrio photo booth, DJ/MC DL Alyssia, MINI car competitions and test drives. 


The MOB gourmet food truck will be on site and MINI merchandise giveaways will also be occurring throughout the event.


Dubai Kartdrome Manager Ryan Trutch said: “We are witnessing a recurrence of sellout events for 2016, with 30 teams again signed up for Round Two. 


We welcome some back from overseas and of course we are also happy to see the more familiar teams which I am sure will be fighting it out for top honours this weekend.”
