Conquest Racing Las Vegas Second Round Qualifying Report

08.04.2007: Conquest Racing Las Vegas Second Round Qualifying Report

After the Conquest Racing Team missed yesterday’s qualifying session, the team found themselves in better shape this afternoon. Matt Halliday behind the wheel of the 42 BELOW Cosworth/ DP01/Bridgestone car seemed reasonably content with the improvements the team made. Sitting in 14th position for the start of tomorrow’s race, both the team and Halliday are looking forward to moving up in tomorrow’s Vegas Grand Prix.

"Everything went smooth today but we still have work to do to find a good balance with the car. We will see what we can do tonight and hopefully we can improve during the race tomorrow," said optimistic 42 BELOW Cosworth/DP01/Bridgestone driver Matt Halliday.

"Yesterday put us behind and it has been difficult to catch up. We have to keep in mind that we put this deal together just a week ago and tomorrow, Matt will have a lot to learn about saving fuel and practicing for his first pit stops during the warm up. He has been doing a very good job all considered and I am confident we will have a good race. He is an excellent racer."

Sunday’s inaugural Vegas Grand Prix will be none the less a challenge for both Halliday and Conquest, both are pleased with the improved qualifying position and can only hope for the same tomorrow. The green flag drops on the season opening race at 4:00 p.m. Eastern time and will be broadcast live on NBC starting at 3:30 with a pre-race show.
