DMIA extends platform of cooperation with Russian producer Alrosa 31.05.2013: The Diamond Manufacturers & Importers Association of America (DMIA) and Alrosa, Russia's largest

The Diamond Manufacturers & Importers Association of America (DMIA) and Alrosa, Russia's largest diamond company engaged in the exploration, mining, manufacture and sale of diamonds and one of the world's major rough diamond producers, held a round of discussions earlier this Spring.


The purpose was to increase and deepen business dealings of the giant diamond producer in New York City the undisputed trading and distribution hub for America, the world's largest consumer market for diamonds, gems and jewelry.
 

 DMIA President Ronnie VanderLinden said he was pleased to report that Alrosa had committed to continue to hold tenders for rough as well as for polished goods in New York, and that these would be held several times a year going forward.
 

"Alrosa recognizes the opportunities New York's diamond and jewelery industry has to offer and the city's importance as the access point to the worlds largest consumer market for diamonds, gems and jewelry. Further proof of Alrosa's determination to extend its involvement in the American / New York market is its negotation of a contract with Tiffany and the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Sotheby's for the sale of important stones," Vladlen Nogovitsyn Alrosa Head Of Marketing noted.
 

Alrosa vice president Alexander Malinin, General Manager of Brillianty Alrosa, Alrosa'scutting and polishing division said Alrosa looked forward to extending its operations in New York. "The overwhelming majority of diamonds, gemstones and jewelry comes into the American retail and consumer market through 47th Street.


The volume of business done in Manhattan is huge and we simply need to be there, where the action is," he noted. He added Alrosa is looking forward to moving into larger office space in 580 Fifth Avenue (The World Diamond Tower) to accommodate the extension of its platform of operations.
 

"We welcome Alrosa to New York and look forward to working closely with the company and its executives, creating a win-win scenario for both parties. As New York's leading diamond industry organization, the DMIA has our fingers on the industry's pulse. We look forward to Alrosa becoming an official member of DMIA as soon as possible!"
