• The rules will be presented for the 2023 Photography Award, the winning images from which will be shown at the inaugural PHotoESPAÑA 2023 exhibit in the Royal Botanical Garden



In this edition of the ARCO Fair, the ENAIRE Foundation's stand will showcase the work of the three winning artists of last year's edition of the photography award presented annually by the Foundation; namely, Miguel Tornero, José Guerrero and Soledad Córdoba, who won the prize in 2022.



In addition, a large-format work of the latest artistic project by photographer José Manuel Ballester will be premiered. The work is called "Tree next to the church", a landscape that draws you in and connects with the author's intense internal search.



Ballester offers a new vision of reality with his camera, illuminating and transforming it, and shows us his most poetic, emotional and intangible side. This work is part of "The Tree" project, an exhibit that will open the PHotoESPAÑA 23 festival in the Royal Botanical Garden in May.



José Manuel Ballester was the latest recipient of the ENAIRE Foundation's Lifetime Achievement Award; an honorary distinction that seeks to recognise an entire career devoted to photography, creative maturity and the four decades that the artist has spent behind the camera.



The ENAIRE Foundation is taking advantage of its presence at ARCO to announce the new call for its ENAIRE Foundation 2023 Photography Award, open until 21 March to all photographers living in Spain or who have exhibited in Spain over the last 5 years.



This competition was created in 2005, coinciding with the tenth anniversary of the creation of the ENAIRE Foundation, and is celebrating its 16th edition this year, now as one of the most prestigious photography awards, and the one that most steadfastly supports this artistic discipline in Spain.




So far, more than four thousand professionals in this field have submitted entries for the various editions, including prize-winning artists such as Juan Adrio, Jorge Fuembuena, Eduardo Nave, María Primo, Rosell Meseguer, Cano Erhardt, Alfonso Batalla, José Quintanilla, Irene Cruz, Juan Millás and Mara León.



Commitment to photography



Over the course of these years, the ENAIRE Foundation has been strongly committed to photography as a premiere vehicle for showcasing art, as evidenced by the important role that this discipline has taken on in ENAIRE's Collection of Contemporary Art.

 The three prizes are worth: 12,000 euros for first place 8,000 euros for second place 5,000 euros for third place Furthermore, the three winning works will be added to the Collection and will be displayed, alongside the other works selected by the jury, at the inaugural show of the 2023 PHotoESPAÑA Festival, which will be held starting 31 May at the Royal Botanical Garden in Madrid.
