A Pick-Up with 4,000 bhp and a Prize-Winning Lowrider are Surprising the Fans




It is the festival amongst the automobile fairs: Car friends and tuning fans from all over Europe are streaming to the Essen Motor Show from November 26 to December 4 (November 25: Preview Day).



 In addition to the appearances of the large manufacturers and dealers, three new crazy cars from the USA are surprising the visitors in Hall 10 at Messe Essen this year.



Featuring: a pick-up with 4,000 bhp on the open loading area belonging to Gordon Tronson from Nevada. In the best sense of the word, the prize-winning lowrider called Spirit Runner and the Oklahoma Willy, a VW pick-up with a jet engine as the drive, are crazy, too.



He has surprised the show car scene once again: the native New Zealander Gordon Tronson who, however, has lived near Las Vegas in the US state of Nevada for decades.



With the Equadoline, the specialist for show cars and hot rods is presenting a pick-up which has 4,000 bhp and is powered by four turbocharged Ford 4.6-litre V8 engines.



The basis is a Ford Ecoline pick-up from 1962 which Tronson has equipped, amongst other items, with a fuel tank with a capacity of 150 litres.




Spirit Runner Lowrider: "Oldie" Chevy Monte Carlo as an Eye-Catcher


Brandon Gonzalez from Phoenix in the US state of Arizona is a member of the Imperial Car Club, the oldest, most famous and most respected clubs on the lowrider scene, and the head of the Phoenix section. His Spirit Runner has won a lot of prizes over the years.



The basis is a Chevrolet Monte Carlo from 1974 which Gonzalez has continuously modified time and time again in the last ten years, starting with the unique paintwork via the Chevrolet 5.7-litre V8 engine and the completely refurbished interior right up to the hydraulic installation.



The Briton Perry Watkins, too, has already often created wierd vehicles. For example, he built the lowest car (48.26 cm) ever licensed for road traffic and a drivable dining table. Both can be seen at the Essen Motor Show.



His newest coup is a VW pick-up from 1958 which he has renovated completely and equipped with a Rolls-Royce Viper535 jet engine which supplies 5,000 bhp. Theoretically, the car could drive at 430 km/h. The practical proof has not yet been provided.
