Selected F4SEA driver comments after race 1 in Sepang

08.12.2016: Formula 4 South East Asia (F4/SEA) Sepang International Circuit Thursday, December 8th 2016 Jordan Love (AUS, Car #79), Pole position

Formula 4 South East Asia (F4/SEA)
Sepang International Circuit
Thursday, December 8th 2016

Jordan Love (AUS, Car #79), Pole position, Winner Race 1
“It actually was quite a nervy start for me as I was concerned about making a jumpstart! But despite that, I was able to still get a good start and managed to defend from Danial (Frost).

From that point on, the goal was to keep the lead and push as hard as I could, especially as I was not too happy with my pace in qualifying.

I am really happy with my race pace as I was able to consistently lap almost half a second faster than the times I did in qualifying. I am really happy about that!”

Danial Frost (SIN, Car #66), P2 Race 1
“I had a really good start and was able to catch Presley (Martono) at the start and gain one position. I even tried to overtake Jordan (Love) into Turn 1, as I was able to get a good tow.

But, he defended really well and from that point on, I knew I had to focus on being consistent and not to make any mistakes especially as I had the massive task of defending against Presley, who gave me a good long fight through to the end.”

Presley Martono (INA, Car #32), P3 Race 1
“I did not have a great start and dropped off a bit on the opening lap, which meant that Danial (Frost) was able to take the position from me at the start.

I was able to catch up to Danial but he defended really well, for example he brakes late enough into corners that did not give me the room to try an overtaking move. But, overall I am really happy with third as this is great for the championship.”

The second day of proceedings on Friday will see four more races contested with thesixth and final race scheduled for Saturday morning.

Another Star Driver award trophy will again be up for grabs for the most successful driver from the weekend, as the young drivers will again be vying to out-score their compatriots over the course of the six scheduled races that will be contested over the weekend.

With the overall event champion scored on a reverse to the F4/SEA championship points, drivers aim to score the lowest points to be in the running for the coveted trophy on Saturday.
