With over night rain, gusting wind, and occasional bouts of sunshine, it was a race against the elements today in Skellefteå, Sweden as the riders geared up for the one and only round of the FIM Snowcross World Championship.


Although the circuit proved to be very testing indeed, it wasn’t enough to slow down the Swedish snowcross hero Adam Renheim from taking his second consecutive FIM Snowcross World Championship title. Meanwhile in the FIM Women’s World Cup class, Elina Öhman ran away with the race to claim her first ever World Cup, nineteen seconds clear of the next best rider.


In the premier snowcross division, the riders geared up for the one race that counts. Quickest off the line Sweden’s Davide Reponen had his snowmobile hauling, claiming the holeshot ahead of fellow Swedes Emil Öhman and the current FIM Snowcross World Champion Adam Renheim.


Öhman was quick to get around Reponen on the opening lap with Renheim following him through. While for a couple of laps Renheim tucked in behind Öhman, eventually he found his lines and his rhythm pushing past Öhman to take over the lead.


While Öhman did his best to keep Renheim honest, in the end it wasn’t enough with Renheim claiming his second consecutive FIM Snowcross World Championship title ahead of fellow Swedes Emil Öhman and Nisse Kjellström. The holeshot receiver, Davide Reponen ended up dropping back to tenth.




Meanwhile with the start of the first ever FIM Women’s Snowcross World Cup Final, it was Signe Bråten who proved to be the most eager, snatching the holeshot ahead of the top qualifier Elina Öhman.


While Norway’s Bråten was yearning a race win ahead of the hot favorite Elina Öhman, Öhman was just on another level today, seizing the lead early on lap one to lead all the way to the finish. Bråten managed to hold on for second with fellow Norwegian Marlene Andersen rounding out the top three.
