p.

The FIM Snowcross World Championship returns to Finland after the successful event held in Tuuri in 2013 and this time is the city of Jyväskylä that welcomes the best snowcross riders in the world. Jyväskylä is well known worldwide for being a winter sport venue, which has hosted the annual World Rally Championship series.

The 440 metres brand new snowcross circuit, which has been built with 35 thousand cubic meters of snow, is located exactly at the same place where the World Rally Championship paddock was set up.

The FIM Snowcross World Championship event consists of a two-day format which includes free practices on Friday 11th and both qualifying and main races on Saturday 12th with 35 riders in total lined up to compete for the FIM Snowcross World Championship and the FIM Women’s Snowcross World Cup titles.

After this first round all the riders will travel to Alta, Norway, on the 9th April 2016 where the World Titles will be decided.

A sunny day and a 3° temperature made today’s free practices an enjoyable moment for the 23 riders who entered the FIM Snowcross World Championship. Free practices were organized in 2 groups of 11 and 12 riders each and among all names the Swedish Adam Renheim, Nisse Kjellström, Oskar Norum and Filip Eriksson were the most awaited.

The 2015 FIM Snowcross World Champion Marcus Ogemar-Hellgren will not line up to defend his crown this weekend.

Group 1 was dominated by 2015 Vice World Champion Nisse Kjellström while the 2-times FIM Snowcross World Champion Adam Renheim was in a good shape today and managed to finish second in both practices.

Adam Renheim, as well as his sister Marica, is now riding in USA and he is back in Europe to claim back the FIM Snowcross World Championship title. Meanwhile in Group 2 Alexander Berglung and Martin Moland lead practice 1 and 2 respectively.

In women’s category, it was Marica Renheim who mastered the scene in both practices today while Norway’s Viktoria Kirkhus had a pretty consistent path being second in the first practice and fourth in the second one.

Emilia Dahlgren managed to wrap up the third and second position in the first and second practice sessions. 2-times FIM Women’s Snowcross World Cup’s winner Elina Öhman will not attend the first round of the 2016 edition.

As for TV coverage a special 22mn Magazine ‘Behind the Scene’ of the FIM Snowcross World Championship will be released on Thursday 17th March on www.MXGP-TV.com and will also be broadcasted on Motors TV in Europe, CBS Sports Network in USA and Canada, Fox Latin America, Fox Sports Asia, Bandsports in Brazil, EBO TV in Bolivia, MTV 3 in Finland, Sport TV in Africa, Kreator TV in Croatia, Sport TV Portugal, Sport TV Slovenia, True Vision Thailand and the ultimate MXGP partner SINA Sports in China.

Before the main action starts tomorrow in Jyväskylä everybody can find out more about this first round of the FIM Snowcross World Championship watching the welcome messageE.
