Superb weekend for Thomas Chareyre in Sankt Wendel

Thomas Chareyre had a blistering weekend in Sankt Wendel taking Superpole and winning the three races to show the whole world he is now the one with the red plate. Second was Ivan Lazzarini and Bernd Hiemer took the third step of the podium despite starting his home Grand Prix from seventh. Thierry Van Den Bosch instead struggled to finish eighth overall and lose the Championship lead.

In the UEM European Championship Open class Petr Vorlicek went out victorious from the German track with three consistent victories and Lukas Höllbacher won the overall S3 class.

747 Motorsport TM Racing Factory’s Thomas Chareyre could not have a better weekend in Sankt Wendel as he took the Superpole on Sunday morning and succeeded in winning the three races with impressive authority. At just the second Grand Prix with his new TM machine, the French youngster was capable of becoming the new red plate holder for the first time in his career.

HM Honda Racing’s Lazzarini was a consistent rider this weekend and was second in the overall classification. His day two in Sankt Wendel did not start as he expected, with the Italian making a mistake in the Superpole and dropping down to fourth in row one. In the opening moto he did not start well but exploited the crashes of Hiemer and Adrien Chareyre to end an eventual fourth. However, in the two following races he showed his speed and finished third and second.

The third step of the podium was for Motoracing’s Hiemer, who had an eventual third overall position in his home GP. The German crashed in the first race and went from fifth to ninth and he could only finish eighth. Hiemer then experienced a dramatic ending in Sankt Wendel. Having taken fourth position in race two, he needed a perfect final race in order to fulfil his German fans’ hopes to have him on the podium and so he did by fighting tooth and nail for an eventual third place.

Fourth was Italian Gozzini of 747 Motorsport TM Racing Factory who missed the podium just in the last race, where he crashed and dropped to eighth. In the previous two races he was third and fifth consecutively.

Husqvarna CH Racing’s Hermunen experienced mixed fortunes in Sankt Wendel. He managed to get the holeshot in the first two races and finished second in both, but race three dropped him off the podium. After a good start, the Finn dropped down to sixth and during his recovery he bumped into Van Den Bosch, whose bike had stopped in the sky zone of the track, and he could only be 16th. Hermunen was fifth overall, tied in points with fourth classified Gozzini.

It was not a good weekend for Van Den Bosch either as he lost the red plate in the German street circuit after obtaining an overall eight position. Unfortunately, he got involved in a crash in the start of race one with Italian Borella and, although he did a superb first race overtaking up to eleven riders, he could only get a final ninth position. In the second race he was sixth, but in the last one misfortune came back to him as he stalled his Aprillia in the sky zone, with Hermunen bumping into him, and finished 17th.

Delepine was a solid sixth overall after a disappointing opening round in Castelletto di Branduzzo while Adrien Chareyre had a technical problem in race one and dnf’d – he was ninth overall eventually.

UEM

Vorlicek went out with a consistent overall victory after winning the three races of the second round of the European series and, despite still being fourth in the Open Championship, he managed to snatch some valuable points from his rivals. Second was Championship leader Nastran and Italian Dall’Era completed the rostrum.

In the S3 class Höllbacher dominated again in the German round, but British Malachi, who finished second overall, managed to win the third race in Sankt Wendel.
