Alessandro Kouzkin joins Forma Master with Cram Competition

18.04.2009: 2007 International Formula Master (IFM) Champion Cram Competition will run 16-year-old Italian driver Alessandro Kouzkin for its 2009 IFM campaign.

2007 International Formula Master (IFM) Champion Cram Competition will run 16-year-old Italian driver Alessandro Kouzkin for its 2009 IFM campaign.

The Italian team, which also fielded IFM's inaugural champion Jérôme D'Ambrosio in 2007, tested with Kouzkin in Valencia and Imola. The young driver improved steadily throughout both sessions, securing third fastest in the overall timings on the last day at Imola.

"I'm 16 years old and Formula Master is a good category to compete in for my future," said Kouzkin who made his single-seater debut in Formula Renault 2.0 Italy and Suisse with Cram Competition last year. "It's fast and has good promotional coverage; it's the best category for me right now.

"My first time in the IFM car was in Valencia earlier this year; it was good, the car is a lot more competitive and a lot faster than a Formula Renault. The tyre grip and aerodynamic package are more advanced too and the engine has a stronger acceleration although the top speed is quite similar. I think Formula Master has about 10 or 20 km or more.

"The first race is going to be a real test for me," added the experienced karter whose father, Ernesto Vita, owned the former Formula 1 team Life Racing. "It's my debut in the Series as well as the first time I will race a single-seater on a street circuit! It will be difficult but I'm really looking forward to the challenge."
