Barwa Addax Team confirm splendid run of form in Istanbul

06.06.2009: After this afternoon’s official practice, which took place at the Turkish Istanbul Park circuit, the Barwa Addax Team drivers Romain Grosjean and Vitaly Petrov have qualified in 3rd and 4th places respectively for tomorrow’s

ROMAN GROSJEAN 3rd  AND VITALY PETROV 4th

After this afternoon’s official practice, which took place at the Turkish Istanbul Park circuit, the Barwa Addax Team drivers Romain Grosjean and Vitaly Petrov  have qualified in 3rd and 4th places respectively for tomorrow’s GP2 Series race

Romain Grosjean, who had previously finished 3rd in the free practice session, waited until the end of the session to post a fantastic time of 1’ 34’’ 587. For Vitaly Petrov things were different, as he had set his fastest time early on after only seven laps with a very good 1’ 34’’ 713, good enough to give him a starting position on the second row of the grid alongside his team-mate. It would probably have been even better if he hadn’t had problems with the car in the latter part of the session.

Barwa Addax Team and both drivers are in such fine form at the start of this season that they are dominating all the overall rankings. The Spanish team is even being labelled the “Brawn” of GP2. The main difference is that the teams at this level do not have the same advantages with the development of material or the  aerodynamic advantages, and there is more competitivity between the cars. This demonstrates that the administration and direction, along with all the hard work carried out by all members of the team deserves a special mention.

Tomorrow the first race of this weekend in the GP2 Series will start at 15.00 hrs covering a distance of approximately 150 kilometres and will include the compulsory pit stop where at least two tyres have to be changed.
