Testing - Day 1

A winter of hard work in the GP2 Asia Series has paid off for Javier Villa, being quickest in both the morning and afternoon sessions setting a new track record of 1:11.930!

Luca Filippi, having only signed with the team just a couple of days ago, also did very well, an impressive 4th the morning session but traffic on his new tyre run in the afternoon session saw him placed 7th.

With five more days of testing to go before the season opener in Barcelona, the team are very optimistic for the season ahead, both drivers and team showing what great potential they have.

Team Principal David Sears commented “What a fantastic day back in GP2 for the 2009 season. Javier Villa was so confident and was quickest in both the morning and afternoon sessions. Obviously GP2 Asia has helped integrate him with the team. Luca Filippi only signed with the team on Monday afternoon so we expected him to be a little rusty but 4th in the morning session and 7th in the afternoon session is still very good for his first days testing after a long winter lay off and with respect for him within the team he will no doubt be back up to speed in a couple of days.”

Testing continues tomorrow from 9am local time.
