The many facets of Gulf at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed

This weekend marks one of the key global motoring events, the incredible pageant that is the Goodwood Festival of Speed in Sussex, England and Gulf is set to make its mark on the 2015 Festival in a number of different ways.
 

Foremost among these are two cars from the superb ROFGO Collection that will be driven up the Goodwood Hillclimb Course. 1975 Le Mans winner, Derek Bell, will be reunited with the last of the Gulf cars with which he competed at Le Mans - the lovely Kremer-Porsche K8 spider which he put on the front row of the starting grid and finished 6th in at the1994 24 Hours.


ROFGO “works” driver, 2013 World Endurance Championship GTE AM Champion, Stuart Hall will also be on the hill in the 1968 Gulf Mirage M2 – a car which will should make a superb sound with its V12 BRM engine.
 

Only days after appearing London’s Classic and Supercar Pageant in Central London, Mark Finburg’s wonderful Gulf-Porsche 917 is also due to be at the Festival. The Daytona 24 Hour-winning 917 chassis #013 car is worth looking closely at, as it appears to have come straight off the track at the end of a hard endurance race.
 

It is also the 20th anniversary of the McLaren F1 sportscar winning the legendary French endurance event and, of course, 1995 saw the first of three seasons in the 1990s where longtime Gulf’s association with McLaren was successfully renewed, in a run, which included the team being Global GT champions in 1996. One of the Gulf-McLaren F1s should also be in evidence at Goodwood.
 

Gulf’s motorsport partners, Aston Martin Racing will also be very much in evidence at the Festival. The 2015 Le Mans “Art Car” that created such a stir among fans and media will be running up the Hill over the weekend.
 

And as if that wasn’t enough…. Having made such an impression on the crowds that Goodwood gave him an award for his efforts, Ian King will return to the Festival of Speed, performing a series of burnouts up the Hill aboard the incredible fire-breathing Gulfoil Dragracing Top Fuel motorbike.
