Les ix35 à pile à combustible à hydrogène seront confiés à des représentants des instances européennes.
Les ix35 à pile à combustible développés par Hyundai Motor ont été sélectionnés pour la troisième année de rang par le programme FCH-JU (Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking), soutenu par la Commission Européenne, afin de démontrer dans des conditions réelles les avantages de la technologie de la pile à combustible fonctionnant à hydrogen.
La première voiture électrique à pile à combustible de grande série au monde continue à jouer un rôle majeur en 2014.
Les ix35 à pile à combustible à hydrogène seront confiés à des représentants des instances européennes.
Deux exemplaires de ix35 Fuel Cell, le premier véhicule électrique à pile à combustible (FCEV) de grande série au monde, seront mis à disposition au cours de l'année 2014 de Membres du Parlement Européen (MPE), de Commissaires Européens, de représentants officiels de l'Union Européenne et d'autres décideurs actifs dans la UE.
Hyundai Motor a confié en leasing à FCH-JU un véhicule électrique à pile à combustible fonctionnant à l'hydrogène depuis octobre 2011. Au cours des deux dernières années, ce ix35 Fuel Cell a été présenté aux décideurs de l'Union Européenne, aux dirigeants et au grand public à l'occasion de différentes démonstrations et divers événements en Europe.

Divers Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell sont déjà en leasing au sein de flottes publiques et privées, essentiellement en Europe. L'Union Européenne a établi une cartographie de l'hydrogène et initié la construction de stations proposant de l'hydrogène. Certains organismes publics au Danemark, en Allemagne, en Norvège et en Suède, ainsi que des flottes privées en France, au Danemark et en Finlande, ont ainsi déjà pris possession de leurs ix35 Fuel Cell.
En avril 2014, Hyundai Motor a annoncé la mise sur pied d'un programme de livraison de 75 exemplaires de ix35 Fuel Cell dans le cadre du plus grand projet pan-européen de véhicules à pile à combustible. Grâce au projet HyFIVE (Hydrogen for Innovative Vehicles) initié par FCH JU, des ix35 Fuel Cell seront ainsi livrés aux villes de Bolzano (Italie), Copenhague (Danemark), Innsbruck (Autriche), Londres (Royaume-Uni) ainsi que Munich et Stuttgart (Allemagne).
Dans le cadre de ce projet, le réseau pan-européen existant de distribution d'hydrogène sera considérablement développé au bénéfice des utilisateurs ayant adopté la technologie FCEV à un stade précoce de son développement.
Le Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell constitue le point d'orgue d'un programme FCEV lancé en 1998 et qui se poursuit en Corée au sein du centre de recherche de l'entreprise dédié à cette technologie au cœur du Eco Technology Research Institute.
En janvier 2013, la marque est devenue le premier constructeur automobile au monde à lancer la production en grande série de véhicules à hydrogène zéro émission, confirmant son rôle de leader mondial du développement de la technologie de la pile à combustible.
