Indy Lights Pole for Perera at Watkins Glen

After a great test one week ago at Watkins Glen International Road Course and getting the starting Pole Position for Race One of the Firestone Indy Lights double header, it was a weekend full of ups and downs for Frenchman Franck Perera.
"Fearless" Franck was quick all weekend and qualified on in Pole Position for the first race, but suffered a mechanical failure in the very first lap that sent him to the back of the pack in the second race. Perera then suffered another mechanical on the parade lap of the second race, but managed to get back out on the track and still run the 3rd fastest lap.
"It’s been a tough two weekends so far with a bad rear wheel bearing at Iowa Speedway and another mechanical this weekend at Watkins Glen. I am sure we could have fought for the wins this weekend, but unfortunately we had a problem in the first lap of race one and again in race two," said Perera. "The Team did a great job putting a new gearbox in the car in the short break between races but we still had a mechanical problem at the start of race two. By the time we were back out on track, I was already eight laps behind.
So I used the race to try to get the fastest lap. In the end, I was able to get the 3rd fastest lap and run at the top, so that was good even if we didn’t show good finishes. I proved I can be super competitive and I am looking forward to the next races and getting some race podiums too."
The Indy Lights series continues next weekend with Nashville Speedway and the following weekend with Mid-Ohio.

Qualifying for the Iowa Corn Indy 250 presented by Pioneer was cancelled today at Iowa Speedway when rain started falling after only two drivers had made their qualifying attempts. With the cancellation of qualifying, tomorrow’s starting line-up was set by entrant points placing Conquest Racing’s Enrique Bernoldi and Jaime Camara respectively 17th and 21st on the grid.
