Started: 25th Finished: 26th
Mario on the race: "We had a great first stint, but after we came in for our first pitstop, something happened with the car and we developed a massive understeer. We’ve got to check the car to see if something broke, but we are not going to risk our equipment or that of our fellow competitors, so we are going to turn our focus to Texas. It was our first race and as a team we are still learning so much.
We have to learn this at a rapid pace and everyone is doing a great job. You are starting to see a lot of the transitional teams running further up the pack and that is encouraging. These are teams we have run with an out-performed in the past. We know we will get there, it is just going to take some time and we have to be smart about our approach"
Tyler Tadevic, Team Owner: "We’re pleased to have our first IndyCar race under our belt. Our performance in our first event is similar to that of our fellow transitional teams from Champ Car when they started. We had a good first stint and turned our fastest lap of the weekend.
After our first pitstop, the handling of the car became unpredictable as if something broke. We attempted to remedy it but were unable to do so. Instead of risking our equipment, our driver and any of our fellow competitors we chose to bring it in.
We’ll take it back to the shop in Indy to determine what the issue was and remedy it. The crew did an amazing job, these guys are giving 110% and we’re going to stay focused and prepare for the next event. Thank you to Mario and the Mexico City Tourism Board for their support. As we grow, we are confident we will be able to compete, but for now we are still learning."
Mario’s Mexico City Travel Tip: "When visiting Mexico City, you should try to take in a soccer match. Of course we call it futbol. Mexicans are very passionate about futbol and we have three major futbol teams in Mexico City, Las Pumas, Cruz Azul and Club America.
It is not uncommon for 100,000 people to attend a soccer game, of course they go crazy! It is so loud and a lot of fun. Everyone should experience at least one game at either Azteca Stadium or Azteca Stadium."
