Conquest Racing Texas Qualifying Report

07.06.2008: Conquest Racing Texas Qualifying Report

- Bernoldi and Camara to start 20th and 21st -

The heat and the wind were once again present in Texas when qualifying for the Bombardier Learjet 550k got underway today. Conquest Racing drivers Enrique Bernoldi and Jaime Camara both came to grips with the elements to take the 20th and 21st spots on tomorrow’s starting grid.

The qualifying draw had Camara (#34 Sangari) third in line to qualify with Bernoldi (#36 Sangari) 27th out of 28 cars. Camara, who is participating in his first IndyCar Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, put in an average four lap speed of 210.582 mph.

The rookie’s speed seemed to be good enough to give him his best starting position of the season but a couple of the last few drivers to qualify went quicker than him. One of those drivers was his rookie teammate Bernoldi who nipped him for the 20th place on the grid with a four lap average speed of 210.731 mph.

The Bombardier Learjet 550k, round seven on the IndyCar Series schedule gets underway tomorrow night at 8:30 p.m. central time.

Conquest Racing Quoteboard

20th - Enrique Bernoldi #36 Sangari Dallara/Honda/Firestone

Total time: 1:39.4254

Lap 1: 24.8311, Lap 2: 24.8773, Lap 3: 24.8888, Lap 4: 24.8282

Average speed: 210.731 mph

"Qualifying went better than expected. I put in my fastest laps here so far so I am happy with that. It is a tough track, everybody says it’s so easy, it’s so easy.

The high banking does make it easier to turn but it’s not that easy! It will be a long race tomorrow. The goal once again is to finish the race and be competitive from beginning to end."

21st - Jaime Camara #34 Sangari Dallara/ Honda/ Firestone

Total time: 1:39.4955

Lap 1: 24.8183, Lap 2: 24.9211, Lap 3: 24.8679 Lap 4: 24.8882

Average speed: 210.582 mph

"The car is pretty good it did really good on all four laps. We’re just lacking a little bit of speed and that will come from the development that we will do over the year.

Overall I’m happy with the handling of the car. I’m starting from the back but hopefully I can move my way to the front and finish the race in a good position."
