Top Five Start for Conquest Racing in St. Petersburg

05.04.2008: Top Five Start for Conquest Racing in St. Petersburg

Conquest Racing took part in two practice sessions today at the Honda Grand Prix of St. Petersburg and ended the second session in the top-five in their first outing with their IndyCar Series Dallara on a street course.

Franck Perera was the highest ranked Conquest driver at the end of the day with a lap of 63.6346 seconds placing him fifth in the second session and sixth overall while his teammate, Enrique Bernoldi was 18th with a lap of 64.5261 seconds.

Franck Perera (#34 Dallara/Honda/Firestone)

Best Lap: 63.6346 seconds

"First of all, this is a fun track. Some parts of it remind me of Monte Carlo and I really enjoy the fast corners and the airport part. Practice today went really well. I didn’t put new tires on at the end of the session like some other drivers did and we ended the session in the top five so I’m very happy with that.

We continued to improve the car throughout the day and things are looking good going into qualifying tomorrow. Once again Conquest is doing a great job."

Enrique Bernoldi (#36 Sangari Dallara/Honda/Firestone)

Best Lap: 64.5261 seconds

"I had not driven on a street course for a while so I spent some time getting familiar with the track and driving the Dallara on this type of course. The second session was better and I keep getting more comfortable.

Franck found a good set up and we will compare data tonight and I think we can expect a better performance tomorrow in qualifying."

Eric Bachelart, owner Conquest Racing

"It’s good to be back in a more comfortable environment and get things under better control. I think that we have some good cars and I’m pleased to be in the top five with Franck on our first day here in St Petersburg .

We will work with Enrique tonight to improve his confidence on this track and get him closer to the front."
