At the 2.5 hour Dunlop Maxx Endurance Cup race in Assen (NL), Philip Geipel controlled the lead in his AD 997 - Cup Porsche from the beginning. He was consistantly among the leaders overall, running between first and fourth position, giving a great impression in his first race in a Porsche. 20 minutes prior to the planned pitstop, Philip had a right front puncture and pitted to hand the car to Kenneth Heyer.

The puncture set the Team back to fourth in class, 9th overall. Kenneth drove the fastest race laps, and was able to retake the lead in class after a few laps, second overall, heading for the lead.

Kenneth Heyer : "All of the sudden the rear snapped at 270 Km/h and I spun four times. I know something was not right, so I headed to the pits”!

A second tire was changed by the AD crew, slipping back two further spots overall, but they were able to keep the position in class. 10 minutes prior to the end of the 2.5 hour race unfortunately another tire exploded, ending a great run that was heading for overall victory.

Philip Geipel : "I was happy of how I was able to handle the Porsche, no problems until the puncture. Unfortunaltely not as planned having an " DNF ". The positive was to lead, and have a balanced driver pairing, we could have won both overall and in class, something we did not expect coming here. I hope we can have a revenge in three weeks at the 10 hour of Zolder race.

Kenneth Heyer : "What a tragedy! 10 minutes from the end I fought myself to P 1 again, then another tire problem. What I was thinking at that moment is not for public ears! All in all, we had great fun, and from the sporting side almost deliverd. That's racing, 10 minutes were missing to be at the top of the podium”!
