Zum zweiten Mal in Folge untersuchte das Wirtschaftsprüfungs- und Beratungsunternehmen KPMG die Bereitschaft und Offenheit für selbstfahrende Fahrzeuge. Der „Autonomous Vehicles Readiness Index“ (AVRI) 2019 bewertet, inwiefern ausgewählte 25 Länder auf das Thema autonomes Fahren vorbereitet sind.
Die Niederlande führen das Ranking bereits zum zweiten Mal an, gefolgt von Singapur und Norwegen. Die Studie liefert gleichzeitig einen Überblick über jene Herausforderungen, die bewältigt werden müssen.
Vorsprung durch Innovation
„Weltweit machen viele Länder große Fortschritte in Richtung autonomes Fahren“, betont Klaus Mittermair, Head of Automotive bei KPMG in Österreich. „Die Modernisierung des Transportwesens steht bei den Regierungen der untersuchten Länder weit oben auf der Prioritätenliste.“
Der Grund liegt laut Studienautoren auf der Hand: Regierungen wollen sicherstellen, dass die Entwicklung rund um fahrerlose PKWs und LKWs ihrer Gesellschaft einen Innovationsvorsprung bringt.
Österreich im Mittelfeld
Österreich belegt in diesem Jahr Platz 16. Im Vorjahr war es noch Platz 12. Der Rückfall im Ranking ist darauf zurückzuführen, dass in diesem Jahr fünf neue Länder in die Untersuchung aufgenommen wurden.
Verglichen wurden die Länder anhand der Voraussetzungen in den vier Bereichen Politik/Gesetzgebung, Technologie/Innovation, Infrastruktur und Kundenakzeptanz. Innerhalb dieser vier Säulen werden 25 Faktoren bewertet, die wichtige Ergebnisse liefern: von der gesetzlichen Lage bis hin zum Zustand der Straßen.
„Um die Wettbewerbsposition Österreichs im internationalen Umfeld zu stärken, muss noch mehr Raum für Innovationen geschaffen werden“, sagt Werner Girth, Partner bei KPMG in Österreich.
„Für alle Vertreter der Autoindustrie gilt es gleichermaßen, sich ständig mit den neuesten Technologien intensiv zu beschäftigen. Nur so gelingt es uns, auch zukünftig in der Automobilbranche eine Rolle zu spielen.“

Lernen von den Besten
Die Studie wirft einen detaillierten Blick auf die Vorreiter in Sachen automatisiertes Fahren. So punkten die Niederlande nach wie vor durch eine hohe Akzeptanz von Elektrofahrzeugen, eine große Dichte an Ladestationen, ein solides Telekommunikationsnetz sowie eine Vielzahl an Praxistests.
Doch vor allem arbeitet das Land eng mit den Nachbarstaaten zusammen, um die Technologie für den Güterverkehr einzusetzen. Geplant ist die Einführung von Einheiten mit mehr als hundert fahrerlosen LKWs auf den Hauptverkehrsrouten von Amsterdam nach Antwerpen und Rotterdam ins Ruhrgebiet.
Auch im zweitplatzierten Singapur wird intensiv zum Thema geforscht. Gemeinsam mit einer der führenden Universität des Landes wurde eine Teststadt für fahrerlose Fahrzeuge konstruiert: mit Ampeln, Bushaltestellen, Wolkenkratzern und einer eigenen Regenmaschine.
