Caterpillar and Cummins among global power generation leaders launching new products at three-day show

Middle East Electricity, one of world’s largest power events, wraps up in Dubai today (19 February) with the biggest names in the global energy industry using the dedicated platform as a launch pad for introducing their latest products and services to thousands of industry professionals.


The three-day event, now in its 38th edition and held in tandem with the inaugural Solar Middle East exhibition, opened on Sunday 17 February at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, attracting 35 per cent more visitors than in 2012 for the first two days.


Among headline exhibitors capitalising on the surge of visitor numbers was Mohamed Abdulrahman Al-Bahar, the official Caterpillar (CAT) dealer and service provider for CAT construction equipment and power systems in the GCC, which introduced the brand new 20 cylinder diesel powered generator set – the C175.


The 25 tonne beast produces up to four mega watts of power, delivering the highest power output in comparison to any single high-speed diesel generator set available in the market today. 


Andrew Edensor, EAME Territory Manager for Caterpillar Power System, said: “Sustained growth of infrastructure and construction in the GCC demand high-efficiency machines which are reliable and durable.


“Keeping this in mind at Middle East Electricity, Al Bahar and Caterpillar have introduced the low maintenance C175 diesel generator set which also provides the highest power density in current high-speed generator sets.”


The US headquartered Cummins Power Generations, another global front runner in power generation also had a strong presence at Middle East Electricity, with the launch of their latest range of AvK 610 low voltage power generator series.


Ananth Parameswaran, Director of Global Marketing at Cummins Power Generation, commented: “Designed to perform superbly in harsh environmental conditions when connected to the grid, the highly robust AvK 610 low voltage series are highly robust, operating in the power range of 1,500 to 4,100 kilovolt-amps (kVA). 


“The Middle East is an important part of our growth strategy, and events like Middle East Electricity provide an ideal platform to showcase our products and services to potential customers across the region.” 


Meanwhile, Matrix Comsec, a leading Indian manufacturer of telecom and security products showcased its new field-proven Plastic Leaded Chip Carrier sockets (PLCC) at the show.


The sleek devices are attractive enough to hang on living room walls, defying their palpable efficacy, addressing the communication needs of sub stations, power generation stations, load dispatch centres, control rooms and defence organisations’ communications systems.


Other exhibitors which launched their latest products at Middle East Electricity include Al Futtaim Auto and Machinery (FAMCO), GEMTA General Electronics, EPRO Gallspach GmBh, Boddingtons Electrical Ltd, Citel 2 CP and Benedict GmBh.


Held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Deputy Ruler, the 38th edition of Middle East Electricity concludes today having attracted a record 1,100 exhibitors from 60 countries, hosting 17 dedicated country pavilions.


Organised by Informa Energy Group, a division of Informa Exhibitions, Middle East Electricity and Solar Middle East are partnered with Power + Water Middle East in Abu Dhabi, Power Nigeria in Abuja and Africa Electricity in Johannesburg.


Middle East Electricity and Solar Middle East return in 2014, taking place from 11-13 February 2014 at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre.
