Inaugural Etisalat Fitness Fest saw thousands of visitors, including some of the world’s top athletes and TV stars, attend sporting and fitness extravaganza at Dubai Autodrome

The Etisalat Fitness Fest burst into life at the Dubai Autodrome last weekend, welcoming over 7,500 people aiming to lead a fitter life.  The three-day event, supported by the Dubai Sport Council, was packed with more than 200 activities, healthy eating options and challenges for guests to participate in and enjoy.


Highlights included strong man demonstrations from Hafþór Björnsson, also known as ‘The Mountain’ from hit TV show, Game of Thrones and French bodybuilder Morgan Aste, aptly nicknamed ‘The Big Rock’ who weighs in close to 163kg.


The event also featured Q&A sessions with Camille Leblanc-Bazinet, CrossFit champion who was crowned “the fittest woman on the planet” in 2014; the Universal Muscle Fitness & Fashion (UMFF) Championship; the high-flying Gravity Calisthenics Battle of the Bars; knockout performances from the Lee Hurford Boxing Academy; and Energetic Zumba shows from renowned choreographer Liana Veda.


Chris Fountain, Managing Director of Turret Media, organisers of the Etisalat Fitness Fest, said: “The first ever Etisalat Fitness Fest saw us achieve our aim of attracting thousands of festival goers to come and take part in some amazing fitness activities and challenges. 


“We’ve laid the foundations for a bigger, better and stronger event in years to come, and have learned a number of lessons that will help deliver an even more exciting event next year.”


Plans have already been set in place for next year’s Etisalat Fitness Fest, with the promise of new timings and a revamped pricing structure.


Etisalat Fitness Fest ambassador and 2014 World CrossFit Games Champion Camille Leblanc-Bazinet, said: “As a first-year event, the Etisalat Fitness Fest surpassed my expectations and the foundations have clearly been laid for an amazing future.  It was such a positive atmosphere and an innovative way to get people thinking about, and participating in, fitness activities.  I really think this event will help Dubai become a fitter city in the future.”

The show was also a massive hit with athletes of the future, attracting 10 Dubai schools, including Horizon English School and Crescent English High School, to compete in the Ultimate Fitt Youth Games to find the UAE’s ‘fittest youth’.
