Medicina Futura Group plans network of facilities in UAE, GCC offering the best in Italian healthcare

Dubai’s first multi-disciplinary clinic of Italian doctors will open next month as part of plans by the Medicina Futura Group to develop a network of medical facilities in the UAE and other GCC countries.


Located in Umm Suqeim, the Italian Medical Center will become the first to be established outside Italy by the Group, which employs 1,000 staff, including 500 doctors, at four hospitals and 10 clinics in Naples and surrounding district.


With ten Italian doctors in Dubai, including a family doctor and psychologist, the new facility will feature a breast unit and orthopaedic department, with services including bariatric surgery, cardiology, gastroenterology, general surgery, nephrology, obstretic and gynaecology, and paediatrics.


Announcing its plans at Arab Health in Dubai today, the Medicina Futura Group said patients will also be able to book special appointments in Dubai with visiting Italian heart specialists and other doctors.


They will include Prof Antonio Curnis, Associated Professor, University of Brescia, who was one of the speakers at today’s Middle East Cardiovascular Disease and Intervention Conference taking place Arab Health.


Prof Curnis is a forerunner in Italy of biventricular pacing, which uses a special kind of pacemaker to treat the delay in heart ventricle contractions. “We very much look forward to the opening of the Italian Medical Center in Dubai,” said Simone Improta, CEO of the Medicina Futura Group.


“This is the first of several such facilities which we plan to introduce in the UAE and some of the other GCC countries over the next few years. All will offer the very best in Italian medical care.”


Helping to announce the opening of the first Italian Medical Center in Dubai on 7 February will be Fabio Cannavaro, captain of Italy’s 2006 FIFA World Cup winning team.


The former Inter Milan, Juventus and Real Madrid player is an ambassador for the facility and will be joining Improta and doctors at the centre’s Arab Health exhibition stand tomorrow (Thursday).

Cannavaro is a well-known and respected figure in the UAE where he became a global brand ambassador and technical consultant for Al-Ahli Club following his retirement in 2011, taking over as coach two years later. He is currently head coach of Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.
