Intuitive, intelligent control with Helm Master EX

Launched in 2020, the Helm Master EX was another milestone on Yamaha’s journey to becoming the go-to boating systems provider. It allows everything from single outboard family RIBs to multi-outboard blue water cruisers to be controlled using an intuitive joystick control system.



Users enjoy the smooth, precise and effortless operation of engines, from the XTO 425hp V8 to the 150hp via Digital Electric Steering (DES). Continuing the delivery of comfort, convenience and confidence, the easy-to-use navigation systems sync directly with GPS gauges, whilst Autopilot allows everyone on board to relax and enjoy each moment of the trip. Finally, peace of mind is assured with an electronic key switch to enhance security.




New enhancements to the Helm Master EX

Yamaha Motor has today introduced a further round of improvements to an already exceptional control system. Helm Master EX was developed to enhance the enjoyment of time on the water, and through listening to and learning from their users, Yamaha has added a range of innovations that make the boating experience even more pleasurable.





Complete control, anywhere


Users can now enjoy a better vantage point for mooring and close quarters manoeuvring. This is because boaters can now add a second, or third Helm Master EX joystick almost anywhere on their craft, without the need for an additional throttle and helm, opening up a world of options and reducing the amount of required components.



The development is perfectly suited to owners who are regularly manoeuvring in tight spots, where visibility may be restricted by the vessel. For stern-to mooring, a Joystick can easily be located on the aft deck; or for a larger flybridge having a wing station for beam-on moorings is simpler than ever.



The update also adds new, pre-loaded steering patterns to the Helm Master EX system. Meanwhile, adjustments to the Auto-Trim feature make it even easier to reach optimum performance and efficiency whilst underway.



Comfort and confidence



Captain and crew can now enjoy a more comfortable and relaxing time on the water as the enhanced Lateral Assist better compensates for the effect of wind and tide, keeping the bow on its original heading when controlling the boat via Helm Master EX.



Yamaha Helm Master EX gives the boat’s skipper an enormous amount of information, all in one place whilst underway. The captain’s confidence is assured with more precise course and distance information at their fingertips via the full colour CL5 multi-function gauge, which now includes selected manufacturers’ trim tab position and Helm Master EX – SetPoint™.
