A new hub developed by an exhibitor at CeBIT 2007 makes desktop phones Bluetooth-compatible and can be used with all Bluetooth headsets from version 1.0 onwards. In conjunction with the JX 10 designer headset, it is even possible to have two parallel connections to one headset, using either a desktop phone and a Bluetooth-compatible cell phone or two Bluetooth-compatible cell phones.

The hub allows six hours of calls and lasts for up to 200 hours on standby. The Bluetooth standard has a range of ten meters (Bluetooth 2.0) and the headset weighs just ten grams.

An ultra-light headset for Skype and cell phone communication that can now also be controlled using voice commands is being premiered at CeBIT 2007. Dialing is performed simply by dictating the number into the microphone. Thanks to Bluetooth, the tiny gadget works up to ten meters from the PC.

One particularly practical feature is that the device has a tracking system to stop it getting lost. Pressing a button on your cell phone makes the headset beep, revealing its whereabouts.

Bikers who love high-tech gadgets know the problem well. They want to be able to communicate, even while riding their bikes, using helmet headsets but wind and travel noise drowns out the music or the voice of the person on the other end of the line.

According to the manufacturer, this new wireless headset which is operated by voice commands now ensures excellent sound quality free of ambient noise, even on the freeway, and crystal-clear radio reception.

What's more, the receiver automatically adapts the sound quality to the level of ambient noise. Even conference calls are possible with this wireless headset being showcased at CeBIT 2007.

Hello, is anyone at home? A media server can now be connected to both cable TV and surveillance cameras and is ideal for anyone looking to keep track of what is going on at home in their absence. The innovation is on show at CeBIT 2007 in Hannover.

The device links entertainment electronics and surveillance technology. In addition to a network video server, the all-in-one server has a 3G phone video viewer and video recorder for all video sources plus a TV turner that can be operated via the network and the 3G phone. Further features include a firewall, IP sharing router and Wi-Fi interface.

Users can watch cable TV movies whenever and wherever they want on a notebook or 3G phone, and also control the surveillance cameras. A timer allows movies and surveillance videos to be recorded directly onto the hard drive or USB disc.

Weather-proof technology which, according to the manufacturer, works at temperatures of -30 to +70°C, offers a dual-band access point which searches for the best connections itself. If it experiences any problems, the device - on show at CeBIT 2007 - initiates a 'self-healing process'.

If the connection is broken, it is abandoned and the rerouter looks for the next best connection. The temperature is also checked automatically on an ongoing basis and, as with an air-conditioning system, the device is heated or cooled under thermostat control depending on the external temperature.

Thanks to a new wireless hard drive and print server which can be seen at CeBIT 2007, 48 Mbps data transmission is now possible. According to the manufacturer, this is the quickest speed available on the market. WPA and WPE encoding are standard to ensure secure wireless transmission.

Data can be copied from the USB stick directly onto the hard drive via two USB ports using a backup button. Because the wireless hard drive is very small, users can take it with them wherever they go. It can also be used, for example, as a storage device for digital cameras.

One of the innovations at CeBIT 2007 in Hannover is a Skype phone that allows users to make phone calls without switching on the computer. The phone simply needs to be connected to the Internet.

The device stores the numbers of both fixed network and Skype users and has a 1.5-inch color monitor. Four handsets can be registered for each base station.
