Miller Barrett Racing will field its class-leading driver duo again in this week's Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series race at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah. Bryce Miller of Summit, N.J., and Kevin Roush of Upland, Calif., will share driving duty in the No. 48 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car, carrying the colors of Marquis Jet, IPC Systems and Total Lubricants. The Sept. 19 race will be the third of four test races this season for the rookie team.

Miller and Roush combined forces in the team's first race, at Watkins Glen International last month. They had a strong start, with Roush leading the GT class, until a wayward Daytona Prototype knocked the car out of the race. The team struggled with gearbox issues at the next race, in Montréal, but completed a successful test last week.

"We are excited to have Kevin back in our car after his performance at The Glen, where he led several laps in our debut race. He knows our car now and that familiarity will help us at Utah," Miller said.

"After our recent test, the team was able to again make some forward strides to improve the car. I am quite excited for this next race, but it's also still a development program and it's important for us to not become distracted by our competition during these select races. Being a young team, we need to maintain our focus on improving processes, teamwork and the car, so we have an established systematic protocol going into the 2010 season."

Roush usually travels cross-continent to race, so the 4.486-mile Utah road course is like a home track for him. He predicts a fast pace on Saturday, with the race distance changed from the previous 1000 kilometers to 250 miles, shortening the race time from seven hours to two hours 45 minutes.

"I am really excited to be racing with the Miller Barrett Racing team and Bryce again, especially at this Miller Motorsports Park facility, which is world-class," Roush said. "I have been here several times, including the last couple of 1000-km Rolex races, which were great events. Racing again in the desert Southwest almost feels like a home track for me. As long as it is not blazingly hot out there, the Porsches should be competitive.

"This year, being more of a standard 2:45 sprint format, teams are going to have to execute and cars run trouble-free, drivers pretty much flat-out the entire time, to have any chance of a solid finish. This will provide a good test for all departments of the new MBR team and everyone is fired-up for the challenge."
