Mockpo, 13th of October 2012
On first sight it would seem that the similarities between Spain and Korea are few and far between. Two very different countries in terms of culture, tradition, alphabet and people. But if we delve deeper it is surprising to find more than one link between the Asian country and HRT Formula 1 Team’s home country.
15 years ago in Spain we managed to make the world dance to the Macarena and now wherever you go on the globe everyone moves to the beat of Gangnam Style. Besides, both countries have hosted the largest event in world sport, the Olympic Games, and both countries stage a Formula 1 Grand Prix like the one taking place in Mockpo this weekend.
So we’re closer than we believe. When this world that we live in seems to disintegrate, music and sport serve as a form of escapism that unite people and that’s something that we must never forget.
After this race there will only be four grands prix to go and that means that in the blink of an eye we will be evaluating the season. Yes, you could say the countdown has begun. Or almost. But at least, in terms of our pintxos around the world, we think we can make a final verdict without waiting for the season to end: fantastic.
Is it hard to surprise someone in this hidden corner of the world? Maybe for other mere mortals yes but not for our geniuses from Arzak-Bokado. With a bit of cabbage and seasoned bacon with a Brussels sprouts reduction, Korean soya and spring onion they have managed to make an irresistible pintxo.
We await you in our hospitality unit at 13.00h, where we can make the most of the tranquillity of this Grand Prix to talk amongst chums about the fascinating championship we’re living. Or about whatever one wishes to talk about. We offer a roof and food and it’s up to the rest to do what they wish.
