All set for 2013 Ubrique-Benaocaz Hill Climb 18.04.2013: The Ubrique-Benaocaz Hill Climb is the starting point for the Spanish Hill Climb championship

The Ubrique-Benaocaz Hill Climb is the starting point for the Spanish Hill Climb championship next weekend. The popular Andalusian race is counting towards the regional championship, the European Hill-Climb Challenge and International Hill-Climb Challenge.


The entry list is large in quantity and quality and more than seventy cars and drivers will participate in this already classic venue in Europe. Almost all the usual Spaniard Hill Climbing drivers are taking part in this edition with well-known names in the entry list.


The entry list is spearheaded by Andrés Vilariño, driving his Norma CN, and his always brilliant driving style will be an eye-catcher for this crowded event.


Anyway the Basque driver won´t have an easy race because he´s facing a very experienced and extensive list of rivals. The CM cars, led by new BRC B-49 driven by Javier Villa and Jairo Pesquera, will be quite strong once again. It´s worth mentioning other participants like Óscar Palacio (Demoncar) or Ángela Vilariño (Silver Car S2), up to eight CM entries.


José Antonio López-Fombona, making his first official outing with new and spectacular Audi A4 DTM in this race, Raúl Borreguero with the American beast Mosler MT900R, Eduardo Noriego with his Audi A4 ST, Manuel Maldonado and Gerard de la Casa, with two SEAT Córdoba WRC, Juan José Abia at the wheel of his Ferrari 360 Rally or Fernando Navarrate, driving the Porsche 968 CS Cup, increase the quality of this edition.


José Antonio Aznar, racing at home, won´t be able to race his new Porsche 911 and is back with the same Audi A4 ST used to win the Spanish title previously. The Group N will have two Japanese brands head to head: Mitsubishi and Subaru.


César Gutiérrez, José Blanco Rosales and Marcelino Hevia with Lancer cars and Francisco Jiménez with an Imprezza are the main contenders for the win. Then, among the classic cars, Miguel A. Clemente (SEAT 124 FL) and Rafael Serratosa (Porsche 911) bring back the old spirit.


After technical and administrative scrutineering on Friday, first official training sessions start at 14.30 on Saturday, with race one the same day at 17.30. Then on Sunday, after official training sessions, both races are due to begin at 10.30 and 12.30 respectively.
