Audi-Motorsportchef Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich nahm den Pokal für die erfolgreiche Titelverteidigung des Audi R18 e-tron quattro in der FIA Langstrecken-Weltmeisterschaft WEC entgegen. Die Audi-Werksfahrer Loïc Duval, Tom Kristensen und Allan McNish wurden als Fahrerweltmeister geehrt.

Alle drei besuchten den Galaabend in Luc Bessons „Cité du Cinéma“ gemeinsam mit ihren Lebensgefährtinnen – Allan McNish stilgerecht im schottischen Kilt. Auch die Vize-Weltmeister Marcel Fässler, André Lotterer und Benoît Tréluyer repräsentierten Audi bei der FIA-Siegerehrung. „Unsere ganze Mannschaft hat in diesem Jahr vorzeitig alles erreicht, was zu erreichen war“, erklärte Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich.

„Nach dem Erfolg in Le Mans haben wir auch beide WEC-Titel gewonnen und in allen Rennen eine sehr gute Figur abgegeben. Wir können mit dieser Saison sehr zufrieden sein.“ Auch Allan McNish war  glücklich: „Schon im Kart habe ich um eine Weltmeisterschaft gekämpft. Dann fuhr ich in der Formel-1-Weltmeisterschaft, hatte aber keine echte Chance.

Jetzt hat es in meiner dritten Motorsport-Disziplin bei den Sportwagen mit dem WM-Titel funktioniert.“ Loïc Duval gewann den Titel auf Anhieb: „Das war meine erste volle Motorsport-Saison mit Audi. Der Meisterschaftssieg in einer Saison, in der wir auch Le Mans gewonnen haben, ist ein überwältigendes Gefühl.“

Tom Kristensen resümiert
e: „Nach einem Vize-WM-Titel im Kartsport habe ich nun eine Weltmeisterschaft mit Audi gewonnen. Dabei haben wir die Vorjahres-Weltmeister besiegt. Loïc, Allan und das Audi Sport Team Joest waren brillant.“
