FIA - MENA meeting which was held yesterday Wednesday afternoon at ATCL - headquarter - Kaslik – Jounieh- Lebanon, the meeting was headed by Mr. Nasser Al Attiyah - FIA Vice President , the meeting discussed many proposals and approved many decisions related to Motorsport in MENA , about 12 representatives of MENA federations and clubs presidents attended the meeting.




About the results of the meeting, Al Attiyah stated that first of all I would like to welcome all attendants , also I accept the excuses of those who could not manage to attend the meeting, I would like to thank ATCL for hosting the meeting and Mr. Imad Lahoud and his team work for their praised efforts in organizing this meeting which we really started to collect the yields of the team work results , which we all believe in and apply in our work mechanism.

 

On the light of the results of it , I can describe the meeting of the day as successful , its results will promote the future of motor sport in the Middle East region and North Africa - MENA.


Drift race was inserted into the agenda of FIA -MENA to be international championship , we will send the proposed laws and regulations soon , then we will wait for FIA decision in this regard.



We (as MENA) have 10 rounds that will be hosted by Qatar- Bahrain- UAE- KSA - Kuwait- Oman- Lebanon- Jordan- Morocco and Tunis, so all indicators show the full optimism , by the way , there are many sports organized in MENA but they can not be described as international , so we do our best to insert such sports into FIA agenda.


Al Attiyah stated that the meeting discussed the file related to Hill climbing since 1951, we try to retrieve this international championship especially KSA , Oman and Iran have the desire to join this championship in addition to Cyprus and Lebanon, by this occasion I would like to thank Mr. Gabi Kriker for his efforts towards this sport.



Al Attiyah stated that we discussed the issue of customs and shipping in order to find positive solutions , as we realize well the volume of costs and time wasted .


Al Attiyah stated that the agenda of Middle East championship for rallies for the year 2016 has been approved , taking into consideration some changes related to the distance , as the total length of the race will be reduced to be k.m 200 instead of 250 , it reached before k.m 300.

Al Attiyah said that the the opening round will be in Qatar (5:6 Fdb.2016) the second will be in Kuwait (24:27 March 2016) , Shiraz rally (26:27 May) , Lebanon (2:3 Sep. 2016) , Cyprus (24:25 Sep) Jordan (13:15 Oct)., (Oman 4:5 Nov)., final round will be in (Dubai 25:27 Nov ) 2016 as stated by the organizers.


Al Attiyah shed the light on the training courses approved by FIA , the training committee is headed by Mr. Hani Shaaban who works closely with MENA federations and clubs, as he has a clear and effective agenda about these courses related to safety aspects and administration , training courses will be given in Oman, Morocco, then Kuwsit at the beginning of next year.




About Karting sport , Al Attiyah stated that every federation and club within MENA region will candidate a young rider 13:15 years to take part in this race on KF car at Bahrain international circuit , such participation may result in a good rider capable of competing in the international world championships , many countries welcomed to host rounds of the same such as Bahrain which confirmed its full readiness to host the opening round in the 12th of coming November.
