14:03 : Quads: Baragwanath in difficulty?


    What is happening to South African Brian Baragwanath? Following the leaders’ pace at the start of the special, quad rider number 274 is now more than 19 minutes behind the best time.



    14:01 : Quads: Gonzales takes control at CP3

    After Marcos Patronelli’s increase in pace, it is now the turn of Jérémias Gonzalez Ferioli to raise the rhythm in the quad race. At the 3rd way point, the Argentinean leads his countryman Marcos Patronelli by 1’08’’.



    12:40 : Quads: Marcos Patronelli breaks away

    At CP1 (after 155 km), Marcos Patronelli has confirmed he is speedy today. He has posted the best provisional time ahead of Jeremias Gonzales, 31 seconds behind and Sergei Karyakin, 57 seconds behind. Alejandro Patronelli appears to have decided to not respond to the increased pace imposed by his brother and lies 2’20’’ behind his sibling.



    11:43 : Quads: Marcos Patronelli takes off

    At Way Point 1 (after almost 50 km), Marcos Patronelli is the quickest rider in the category. He leads Brian Baragwanath. His brother Alejandro has not done better than the fourth best time, 1’18’’ behind. As a result, in the provisional overall ranking, he now lies 1’26’’ behind his brother Marcos.




    11:09 : The quads have started

    Following the bikes, now the quads have got to grips with the special. Although victory does not look like slipping through the hands of the Patronelli brothers, it remains to be seen which one of Alejandro or Marcos will climb onto the top step of the podium tomorrow. Indeed, Marcos leads by only 8 seconds.
