Rookie Nicolás Cavigliasso put in a brilliant performance to claim his first Dakar win in what was only his fifth stage in the rally. The Argentinian held off overall leader Ignacio Casale by 1′23″.

    Nicolás Cavigliasso is leading a Dakar stage for the first time in his career. The Argentinian has opened up a gap of 4′34″ to Alexis Hernández and 4′38″ to Ignacio Casale, but the Chilean leader remains in control of the race.
